Virginia-based melodic tech-death metal masters ARSIS promise to return in late 2012/early 2013 with a new album and lead guitarist/singer James Malone back at the helm! As proof of that statement, the band has chosen to release another pre-production track in conjunction with GuitarWorld.com here.
“Sometimes life forces us to make changes and mine certainly has,” commented Malone. “As a result, I have found myself in a much better place than I have been in years and I am so excited to be working on music again. I can honestly say that I am more inspired than I have been in years.”
Formed in 2000 by Berklee prodigies James Malone and Mike Van Dyne, ARSIS has grown a strong and steady following for their unique intellectual brand of melodic death metal through various lineup changes. Recently, ARSIS guitarist Nick Cordle was tapped to replace Christopher Amott in ARCH ENEMY.
“I could not be happier that Nick [Cordle] landed the gig with ARCH ENEMY. He is by far the best musician I have ever collaborated with,” James added.
ARSIS released Zeuss (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, AGNOSTIC FRONT) produced and aptly named “Starve for the Devil“ in 2010 following James’ winning battle with anorexia. The band has been working on new material for their 5th studio album in between tours. While details on the new album are still being finalized, a producer has not yet been assigned.
“I truly feel the new music is some of the best material we have ever written,” Malone further stated. “I know every band always says that when they are working on new music, but I do truly mean it.”
“Starve For The Devil” was released in North America on February 9th and debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
