Hot News: Deathwish Bands on Tour This Month

Birds In Row, Code Orange Kids, Cold World, Loma Prieta, Narrows, Touche Amore in the U.S.
Bitter End in Australia, Deafheaven in Europe, Oathbreaker in Belgium

Most of Deathwish Inc.’s band roster is out pounding the pavement around the globe this month – please check out tour dates below and get in touch to check out an upcoming show, review a new album, or for an interview with any of these fine bands.

Birds In Row are a melodic yet abrasive band from Laval, France.  Blurring the lines between hardcore, punk, and related sub-genres, Birds In Row truly offer something of substantial emotional weight to their listeners. Collectively carrying somber hearts and poignant souls, they navigate through melancholic seas to shape beautifully hook-laden songs unlike anything else out there today.  Birds in Row will begin releasing music on Deathwish in 2012.

05/05: Berkely, CA @ 924 Gilman St. w/ Loma Prieta

Bitter End are an intense hardcore band from San Antonio, Texas, influenced by the metallic New York Hardcore bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s. With their exhaustive touring and their debut 7″EP „Mind In Chains”, they established themselves as a brute force in the hardcore community. Refining their mid-tempo power displayed in their previous release, Bitter End took it to the next level with their debut album, „Climate of Fear”. Tight production accentuated song after song, creating a controlled chaos few bands could ever achieve. They soon after followed this album with a three song „Self Titled” 7″EP. A release that displayed a band evolving and refining their technical ability and song writing power

Code Orange Kids: Fresh out of high school and with an average age of 18 years old, Pennsylvania’s Code Orange Kids do things their way, creatively cutting their own path through it all. Unconcerned with the direction of other artists, their brand of gritty hardcore/punk is simply refreshing to hear. Merging cryptic melody, dirty hardcore power, and intense dirges into their own uniquely inspired sound, Code Orange Kids recently released their fantastic „Cycles” 7″EP on the Mayfly label and their Deathwish debut LP is coming soon.

Cold World are a truly unique hardcore band from Wilkes-Barre, PA. After becoming one of the most talked about bands from their area, Cold World released the „Ice Grillz” CD/7″EP on Lockin’ Out Records in 2005. Touring worldwide in support of that release, Cold World cemented their reputation as one of the best bands in contemporary hardcore in only a years time. In late 2006, Cold World and Deathwish joined forces. Summer 2007 saw Cold World release their „No Omega” CD/DVD, a collection of rare recordings through the 1917 label.  In 2008, Cold World completed „Dedicated To Babies Who Came Feet First”, on Deathwish Inc., which tells a chilling real life tale of struggle in the world as we know it today.

Loma Prieta‘s sound is difficult to describe, it is clear that they come from the rich tradition of creative Bay Area hardcore bands such as Mohinder, Funeral Diner, Bread and Circuits, Yaphet Kotto, and Indian Summer. Eschewing sub-genres in favor of organically writing songs that are personally fulfilling, each Loma Prieta record is substantially different from the last. Nonetheless, Loma Prieta have managed to forge a distinctive form of expression that is entirely their own.

Narrows: When international hardcore group Narrows christened their debut album New Distances back in 2009, the title described the geographic challenge faced by the band–vocalist Dave Verellen (Botch, Roy) and Ryan Frederiksen (These Arms Are Snakes, nineironspitfire) reside in Seattle, bassist Rob Moran (Unbroken, Some Girls, Over My Dead Body) and drummer Sam Stothers (Makeout Boys, Quarantine) live in San Diego, and guitarist Jodie Cox (Tropics, Rohame, Bullet Union) lives in London. But the title also indirectly referenced Verellen’s recurring lyrical themes of loss. Both meanings made their mark on the band; the logistical obstacles of distance and the pervasive tone of grief lent a sense of immediacy and volatility to their angular hardcore songs.

Oathbreaker: After their formation in early 2008, Oathbreaker released a debut 7″EP on the British label Thirty Days Of Night Records. The release was well received by many worldwide and propelled the band to tour Europe. There they shared stages with Entombed, Amen Ra (whom they share a member with), Blacklisted, Trap Them, and more. There they honed their craft, developing into one of the most interesting metallic bands out there today.  Deathwish are proud to announce the release of „Mælstrøm”, the new album from Oathbreaker.
