Duncan Evans, also known as Henry Hyde Bronsdon from the Gentlemen’s Club of A Forest Of Stars, just inked a 5-album deal with Auerbach Tonträger / Prophecy Productions.
Musically, the singer-songwriter is rooted in the tradition of English Folk and murder ballads, and is influenced by artists such as Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Roy Harper. With his solo recordings Duncan Evans pursues a storyteller approach where he is rather focussing on the darker side of things, sometimes in a delicate way, sometimes macabre. In accordance with the genre his music is primarily acoustic and stripped down, but it is suffused with intensity, power and emotional depth, as his debut album “Lodestone“, which is already recorded and set for release later in 2013, will prove. The song “Bird Of Prey”, taken from “Lodestone”, is Duncan’s first recording to be unveiled today:
Duncan Evans on the conclusion of the contract: “I am delighted and honoured that Prophecy Productions have chosen to give their backing to my music. Their exaltation of creative freedom is ideal in allowing artists to express (as Victor Hugo would have it) ‘that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.’ I look forward to a continued and fruitful collaboration!”
Duncan Evans will play his first major solo performance at Roadburn 2013 on Saturday, April 20th at Cul de Sac in Tilburg, Holland.
