Hot News: Godhunter – First Single From Debut Album Sets Decibel Ablaze; City Of Dust Available For Preorder

As City Of Dust, the debut full-length release from disobedient, desert-based sludge faction,GODHUNTER, is now just a month from release, Decibel Magazine unloads the album’s first single which exposes some of the intense political views of the band.

Driven by GODHUNTER‘s archetypal ultra low-end riff assault and earthmoving amplification, City Of Dust‘s third chapter, „Brushfires,” bears massive duality when it comes to the lyrics and messages smoldering within its inflamed core. Collectively states the band on the track’s intent: „This song is about the Yarnell Hill Fire that took the lives of 19 firefighters in Arizona in 2013, but it is also about the well being of our state. In recent years, Arizona has been embroiled in divisive politics that have not only exposed a deep seeded unrest, but also a denial of climate science, logic, and common decency. It is our hope that something positive will emerge from this and other related tragedies.”

The entire statement is now posted alongside a premiere of „Brushfires” at The Deciblog — fire it up RIGHT HERE.

The CD and digital versions of City Of Dust will see release on February 18th, a cooperative release between The Compound and the band’s Battleground Records, with a massive LP version slated for Spring release. Preorders for the CD are available now via Earsplit Distro HERE.

Tucson’s GODHUNTER, while sonically-akin to Noothgrush, Eyehategod and Weedeater also bears politically-motivated crust/punk attributes, as proven on a multitude of steady independent vinyl and CD releases since their late 2009 inception. Their sun-baked debut LP, City Of Dust, shows them exploring more sonically-destructive tones, expanding the subtle but powerful use of synths, even acoustic elements and gravelly, clean vocal segments infiltrate the bed of roared vocal tirades, samples, gang bellows. More than simply a collection of songs amassed for the purpose of releasing an album, City Of Dust presents a fully conceptual statement, lyrically delivering a political by-the-throat theme which unravels through the bitter finale. Through eight anthems the album blazes through exactly fifty minutes of brand new material, recorded with Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon, Unruh) at Arcane Digital Studios (Exhumed, Misery Index), where GODHUNTER the band also recorded theWolves EP.

Continuing their live inundation of the Southwestern quadrant of the country over the past several years, GODHUNTER is devising American tour actions to take place via several widespread regional offensives throughout the year, including the upcoming third installment of the Southwest Terror Fest which the band organizes each year in their hometown. Further broadcasts will follow.
