Hot News: Gorguts unveil new song from forthcoming album via Terrorizer!

Critically-acclaimed death metal pioneers GORGUTS are streaming the second new track off their forthcoming record, ‘Colored Sands‘. The latest track, titled „An Ocean of Widsom” is streaming now via Terrorizer.

Regarding the track, band founder and visionary Luc Lemay said „”An Ocean of Wisdom” is a song telling the story about how the 14th Dalai Lama was found. When the 13th Dalai Lama died, he was put in a room, and from there, monks looked for signs and hints from his body. Also by consulting oracles and going to the sacred lake,  Lhamo-Latso, the lake of vision, monks gathered all the elements so they knew where to look to find the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation. Above all, „Ocean of wisdom” is the english translation for: Dalai Lama.”

Prior to the stream of „An Ocean of Widsom„, GORGUTS released a lyric video for the track „Forgotten Arrows„. 12 years in the making, the long-awaited new GORGUTS (Luc Lemay- Guitar and Vocals, Kevin Hufnagel (DYSRYTHMIA) -Guitar, Colin Martsom (DYSRYTHMIA, BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS, KRALLICE) – Bass, and John Longstreth (ORIGIN, DIM MAK) – Drums) album, ‘Colored Sands‘ is slated for release on August 30th.

Colored Sands‘ will be available as a Digipak CD and limited edition LPs at the Season of Mist e-shop.

GORGUTS recently announced a string of headlining shows leading to and from this year’s Hopscotch Festival. The trek, which begins on September 5th in Springfield VA, will travel through the festival before ending on September 8th in Worcester, MA. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below. Few extreme bands have the pedigree of GORGUTS. From their early days as part of death metal’s first wave (including their legendary Roadrunner releases ‘Considered Dead’ and ‘Erosion of Sanity’), through their transformation into one of most progressive and influential bands in extreme metal, GORGUTS has been impervious to trends, and a vehicle to expand and redefine the language of extreme metal. The band’s 1998 album ‘Obscura’ sent a shockwave through the death metal word, and remains one of the genre’s most influential records to this day. Taking inspiration from classical composers, Lemay’s use of atonal noise and sounds as part of his compositions helped reinvent extreme metal guitar playing. Lemay’s techniques on ‘Obscura’ continue to be a major influence for young metal players to this day.
