French Technical Death Metal band ANTROPOFAGO have boasted guitar-crafting wizard Hugo Mermet (maker of custom guitars for Gorod, Insain and many more) in its ranks for most of the band’s existence. However, it has always been understood that a time might come where Mermet’s business would hinder his ability to be a full-time contributor to ANTROPOFAGO. That time came recently when the band was at work on their upcoming full-length album, “Æra Dementiæ”. Thus, a mutual decision was made to find a suitable replacement once the recording process was finished.
That replacement was quickly found in GOROD guitarist Nicolas Alberny. With ANTROPOFAGO’s fetish for musicianship, guitar and technique, it was no surprise that a guitarist of Alberny’s caliber would answer the band’s call. Having already recorded some guest parts for the new album, Alberny knew what to expect once he joined the fold.
ANTROPOFAGO’s second full-length, “Æra Dementiæ”: madness at a brand new level.
Recorded this summer, ANTROPOFAGO’s new full-length, “Æra Dementiæ”, will be released in early 2014. The album marks a great step forward from the band’s self-released debut full-length, “Beyond Phobia“, with an intense, clear and huge production.
Continuing the path started with the debut and 2012′s digital EP “Between Fear and Madness“, “Æra Dementiæ” is again based on madness, schizophrenia and all kinds of phobias and mental disorders. This concept is mirrored by the band’s insanely paced, intricate and complex music. A demanding listen at first, the developed songwriting talents of Huillery and the boys grabs hold of the unsuspecting audience, brain-drilling its catchy, twisted anthems into the listener’s mind.
“Æra Dementiæ” will be released as a first press 1000 hand-numbered copies limited-edition DigiFile double CD featuring no less than six bonus tracks taken from the “Between Fear and Madness” sessions, most of which have been unreleased until now, for a total of nearly 22 minutes of bonus material.
