SPAWN OF POSSESSION Begin Recording Relapse Debut
Swedish technical death metallers SPAWN OF POSSESSION has entered Pama Studios in Kristianpoel, Sweden with engineer Magnus Sedenberg to begin recording their Relapse debut and long-awaited follow-up to Noctambulant. The album will include nine new tracks plus an instrumental intro and is expected to see a late fall 2011 release date. SPAWN OF POSSESSION (Jonas Bryssling: guitar, Dennis Röndum: vocals, Erlend Casperson: bass, Henrik Schönström: drums, Christian Münzner: guitar) formed in 1997 and has previously released two full-length albums. The band’s latest album, Noctambulant, received international critical acclaim for its blend of musical chops and unfettered extremity.
DEATH: Human Re-Issue Streaming Online
The recent re-issue of DEATH’s legendary Human album is streaming online now at this location. For the re-issue, Human has been entirely re-mixed by longtime DEATH producer Jim Morris and mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, CONVERGE, THE MISFITS).
The special 20th anniversary edition of Human comes complete with expanded packaging featuring liner notes from Morris as well as former DEATH / current CYNIC guitarist Paul Masvidal and over an hour of newly unearthed, previously unreleased early demo tracks. Human is available on 2- and 3- disc sets as well as digitally. CD orders are being accepted now at this location along with new DEATH merch designs, and the album is available digitally via iTunes.
MORTA SKULD: “Prolong The Agony” Video Sees Premiere
A video for MORTA SKULD’s “Prolong The Agony” track has been posted online now at the Decibel Magazine blog. The “Prolong The Agony” video was directed by Doug Cook (dougcook.ca) and produced by Eric Greif. “Prolong The Agony” is available now via the new MORTA SKULD collection Through The Eyes of Death that sees its international release on July 18th 2011.
Through The Eyes of Death combines the band’s two 1990 recordings Gory Departure and Prolong The Agony on one disc along with previously-unreleased material. The two sessions were produced by DEATH manager Eric Greif. MORTA SKULD is the first band other than DEATH and CONTROL DENIED to be published by Chuck Schuldiner’s Mutilation Music. Through The Eyes of Death is currently streaming in its entirety at this location.
MORTA SKULD formed in 1990, releasing their first demo tape Gory Departure shortly thereafter, and features principal songwriter / guitarist / singer Dave Gregor. The band’s second 3-song demo Prolong The Agony came soon after and featured Viogression drummer Jef Jaeger. Both recordings have been remastered for the Through The Eyes Of Death collection by Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound.
DYING FETUS: Post NAPALM DEATH Cover Online
DYING FETUS has posted their cover of NAPALM DEATH’s “Unchallenged Hate” from their forthcoming limited edition, mini-LP History Repeats… online now at MetalHammer.co.uk. The band has previously posted their version of BOLT THROWER’s “Unleashed Upon Mankind” online at this location. History Repeats… marks the band’s 20th anniversary and sees them covering tracks from bands who have influenced them (NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, CANNIBAL CORPSE, PESTILENCE, etc.) History Repeats… also includes a brand new DYING FETUS track exclusive to this release. The mini-LP is limited to 5,000 copies worldwide and set for a July 19th North American release date through FYE stores and Relapse Mailorder exclusively.
