Formed as a one-man-project in 2009 by Laszlo, SOPHICIDE means “murder of wisdom” and serves as the central theme of Perdition Of The Sublime. In an early review of the record, Hails & Horns notes, “SOPHICIDE combine lethal tech-death the likes of Obscura with epic riffs in the vein of All Shall Perish/Fleshgod Apocalypse combined with occasional melodic/progressive brilliance, reminiscent of Opeth,” adding that, “each instrument shines brilliantly in the mix and gels together cohesively. With such depth of sound, it’s hard to believe that this is a solo record because never at any point does this forty-four minuets of sonic ecstasy sound like it could be just one person.” Powerline crowns it, “one of the most promising debuts I’ve ever heard, and a staggeringly high quality release,” while This Is Not A Scene agrees: “It’s hard to believe this is a debut album. It’s even harder to believe this was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Adam Laszlo‘shome studio… The music is very technical. It’s almost mathematical. Therein lies the beauty. It’s heavy and very much in your face but the composition is intricate and multi-layered.”
