Arctic Plateau Interjú

Hihetetlen színvilág nyílik meg azoknak, akik otthon berakják ezt a korongot a lejátszóba: a zene itt is képekké fonódik a hangulatok belsejében, mint egy könnyed felhő, úgy úsznak elénk. Erről a kifejező, sokoldalú zenéről kérdeztem Gianluca Divirgilio-t, a csapat lelkét.

Hello!

Bizonyos helyzetekben jobb is mellőzni a sok szót.

Milyen dolgok inspirálnak a zeneszerzésnél, milyenek a szövegírásnál? Magánéletedben milyen zenéket hallgatsz, kik a nagy kedvencek?

Készülsz e koncertre ezzel a csapattal?

A magánéletemben szeretek otthon gitározgatni.

A dalaim ezekről szólnak.

Gianluca/Arctic Plateau

ENGLISH VERSION:

An incredible world of colours opens for those who put on this record: the music is vowev together with the pictures inside the moods, they’re floating towards us like a light cloud. I asked Gianluca Divrgillio of this multifaceted music.

Hello! Let’s start it with a typical question at the beginning: how did the idea of forming Arctic Plateau come, what inspired you to start this crystal clear process and gain space to itself?

When I started writing the songs on the album „on a sad sunny day” I was tired of thinking about my music as something to serve a band. I just wanted to be alone and write my music. I’m jealous of my music and I love being independent. Each of us has moments in life where he needs to sit in a corner, each of us needs to fly alone, sooner or later. All this it’s not only rock n roll. Not for me.

If you have to come up with an adjective for your music, what would that be? I know it’s an impossible question since, on one hand, it’s not easy to describe, and on the other, it does not really matter but what really matters is the feeling which you pass on with the music.

My music is inquiring. My music forces the listener to get in discussion with his life. As I have done when I’ve written this album.
I like to go deeply into things and probably the music I write reflects this characteristic, but I can not explain very well, is very difficult for me to explain this thing in a single adjective.

How much time did it take finalize the material, to get from the basic to the finished stuff? I guess it was not an easy situation since it not too easy to shape sounds coming from inside into melodies.

I haven’t spent a lot of time writing songs and even to register them but it was not an easy job, because I didn’t want to clean production or absolutely perfect. I don”t like the album too products, hyper products; I love most things crude. everywhere is full of bands that record hyper produced albums but when you ear the live contest… Lyrics very often arise from the facts of real life experiences in first person, but I am convinced that many sensations are able to transmit even through some instrumental parts. In some cases it”s better, instead of so many words that have no meaning.

Was it easy to find musicians for the recordings, or was that also a long process? Was it easy to find the common voice with them?

Was not easy and still is not easy to find people fairly modest and nice but the people who have accompanied me in the album are excellent musicians; they are shift workers, however, engaged in other personal projects. I have a new drummer and a new guitarist; bass player has remained the same as always.

What things inspire you when composing, and when writing lyrics? What music do you listen to in your freetime, what are your biggest faves?

I listen to much classical music, very old-fashioned metal and more. I am very inspired by elements such as air and water, and when I can I like being on my own to write music, maybe in the country. I’m in love and this is wonderful, I am 37 years and a contract with Prophecy Productions, which I believe to be the best in this area, I am very happy for all the work done and I’m writing some new songs; in 2010 I hope to do some dates in some festivals in Europe; is very difficult to play in Italy and I am very disgusted by the country where I live for this and other things.

Are you planning to play live with the band? What are your plans for the near future?

I want to play live with my band in Europe, and the guys I’ve tried the songs of the album and I am very pleased with the results; will keep unchanged the meaning and sound.

Wouldn’t you like to complete the music with some sort of visual art? Since it contains so many shades and emotions, which may require such sort of revelations.

Yes, there are some projections of visual material for concerts, but I do not think this will be possible on all stages and especially I do not think quickly. the engineer of the studio where I recorded the album is building a kind of movie slideshows. This is a very abused in the post rock in my opinion but we will try to do something personal.

What do you do in your private life? Any hobbies?

In my private life I like to stay home to play my guitars. I don’t have many friends and I have a very ordinary life. I don’t go very often in clubs and often walk around in the countryside of Rome. Music fills my life completely and it is also my hobby. Also I like to go eat a good pizza with my girlfriend or cook sometimes.
I like photography but do not consider it a hobby, also I love Apple computers and sometimes I like to do sports (jogging and martial arts), but I hate football.

What kind of message does the record carry? How did the order of tracks form?

Really the only message is to be yourself, always.
The order of the songs has changed over time and was a very difficult job to create that order. I am convinced that this is very important and this is a very delicate in any album. an order of the songs objectively wrong could make a false idea of the album.

Tell me a bit about the feelings that crystallized out when writing songs?

Love and hate are the faces of the same coin. my songs are about this: love and hate. Very often I have lost friends and people very often I have suffered with the memory.
Feelings that collect my songs are the feelings experienced by all human beings face in life. Life is a serious play.

Any message to the listeners, any important thing you”d like to share with us?

Write and ask me anything you want to Arctic Plateau album and give me your feedback, I need your commment.

Thanks for the intie, keep up the good work and hope to hear from you!

Thanks to you for interesting and the space on your artiche,

Best regards,

Gianluca/Arctic Plateau
