Sziasztok, nagy öröm számomra, hogy újra itt vagytok és ezerrel nyomultok. Az apróbb szünet után mennyire került újra lendületbe a csapat?
Jó volt kicsit kihátrálni az iparból és a bandaélet apró részleteire összpontosítani. Ez a szünet lehetőséget adott arra, hogy erőt gyűjtsünk és az egészet belefektessük ebbe az albumba.
Mennyi levelet kaptatok a rajongóktól a szünet alatt, hogy mikor folytassátok újra a zenélést? 🙂
Igen, rengeteg rajongó kérdezősködött, de csak lapítottunk akkoriban. Sok elintézni valónk volt.
A mostani kiadótok a Nuclear Blast. Mi a könnyebb és jobb náluk, mint a korábbi Victory Records-nál.
Egy élmény ezzel a kiadóval dolgozni. A szerződés aláírásának első percétől kezdve rettentő segítőkészek és dolgosak voltak. Jó volt a váltás.
Mikor is kezdtétek el írni a dalokat? Az új gitárosotok Jordan mennyire szólt bele a dalírásba?
A „Die Without Hope” írása 2012-ben kezdődött. Az album nagy része Jordan érkezése előtt íródott, de vele együtt közösen is végigmentünk az összes dalon, hátha találunk valami javítani valót.
Az új album a „Die Without Hope” címet kapta és nagyon erős anyag lett. Mit változtattatok a recepten? Milyen új dolgokat vittetek a zenébe?
A „Die Without Hope”-ot ugyanolyan hozzáállással közelítettük meg mint az előző albumokat. A legnagyobb különbség itt az írásra szánt idő volt. Majd két évünk volt az írásnak szentelve, az volt az első. Néhány olyan elemet is előtérbe akartunk helyezni, amik eddig is ott voltak, de csak a háttérben.
A 10 dalt a floridai Audiohammer stúdióban rögzítettétek, ahol Mark Lewis felügyelte és tökéletesítette a Carnifex dalokat. Mik voltak az ötletei, amit alkalmaztatok is a felvétel során?
Amikor megkaptuk az Audiohammert, az album már készen volt. Mark segített itt-ott néhány riffel, de az album már hónapokkal előtte kész volt. Mark szerepe inkább arra éleződött, hogy próbálja kihozni a legjobbat mindegyik bandatagból. Azért volt ott, hogy biztosítsa hogy a legjobb felvételeket és hangzást kapjuk.
Öthetes turnéba kezdtek hamarosan. Milyenek az előrejelzések, mit vársz a rajongóktól a koncerten?
Épp a turné első hetében vagyunk, remekül megy. Eddig az összes koncert jól sikerült, ennél többet nem is kérhetnénk.
Hogyan készültök fel egy ilyen eseményre? Mennyire tudjátok könnyen elviselni, hogy sokat utaztok és távol vagytok a szeretteitektől?
Van amikor megerőltető hogy úton vagyunk, de ez is egy munka és mi azért vagyunk itt, hogy a legjobb előadásban részesítsük a rajongóinkat. Mindegyik estét a tőlünk telhető legemlékezetesebbé próbáljuk tenni.
Elég sok tetkód van. Mi alapján döntöd el, hogy mikor mit tetováltatsz magadra? Miért tartod fontosnak ezeket a „díszeket”?
Némelyik tetkó sokat jelent, de van amelyiket csak poénból csináltuk. Én egy jó ideje már nem tetováltattam magamra semmit, de tervbe van véve hogy hamarosan csináltatok egyet.
Az évek alatt már elég sok lemezt eladtatok, viszont a digitális térhódítás miatt csökken a lemezeladások száma. Milyennek találod, hogy mp3 formátumban megvásárlod a lemezt, ami régen fel sem merült volna az emberben, hogy fizessen érte?
Amennyire minket érint, bármilyen formában fizet a rajongó a lemezekért, az jó.

Hi! It makes me really happy that you are back and are in the thick of it. What kind of newfound momentum did you get after the short pause?
It was great to take a step back from the industry and refocus on the simple parts of being in a band. Taking the break gave us time to put all our energy into writing this album.
During the break, did you get a lot of fan mail about when you’ll continue making music? : )
Yeah, there were a lot of fans asking but we stay pretty quite during the time We had a lot to sort out on our end.
Your current publisher is Nuclear Blast. How easier is it with them compared to the previous Victory Records?
Nuclear Blast is a fantastic label to work with. From the moment we sign they had been extremely helping and hard work. It’s a nice change of pace.
When did you begin writing songs? Did your new guitarist, Jordan, have a lot to say into the songwriting?
The writing for Die Without Hope started in 2012. The majority of the album had been written before Jordan joined but we did go back through all the songs with him to look for any type of improvements we could make.
Your latest album is titled “Die Without Hope” and it is a heavy one. What did you change in your recipe? What sort of innovations did you bring into the music?
We approached Die Without Hope with the same mindset as the previous albums. The main difference was the time we had to write. We had nearly two years to focus on writing which was a first. We wanted to bring some of the elements that we’ve always had in the background to the forefront of this album.
You have recorded these ten songs in Audiohammer Studios, Florida, where Mark Lewis oversaw and improved the songs of Carnifex. What were his ideas that you have implemented during recordings?
When we got to Audiohammer the album was already written. Mark helped with a riff or two here and there but the album had been completed months prior. Mark’s role was more in the way of trying to get the best performances from each band member. He was there to be sure that we were getting the best takes and sounds possible.
Soon you will begin your five week tour. What are your predictions, what are your expectations from the fans during concerts?
We’re in the first week of the tour now and its going great. So far all the show have done well and we couldn’t ask for much more than that.
How do you prepare for such an occasion? Is it hard to endure being on the road and far from your loved ones for so long?
Being on the road can be difficult be it’s work and were out here to put on the best performance we can to give back to the fans. We try to make each night as memorable as possible.
You have quite a few tattoos. What is the process of when and what to tattoo on yourself? Why do you consider these “decorations” important?
Some tattoos have a lot of meaning some are just fun. I haven’t been tattooed in quite awhile but I plan to start again soon.
You have sold a number of discs over the years, but these numbers are decreasing thanks to digital distribution. What do you think about buying the albums in .mp3 format, something that a few years ago people wouldn’t even consider paying for?
Any format that a fan uses to pay for the record is a great as far as we’re concerned.
