Üdvözletem! Hogy vagytok mostanság? A „Sagas” lemezetekkel utólag mennyire vagytok elégedettek? Összességében milyenek voltak a visszajelzések?
Andreas: Köszönöm, minden rendben van! A Sagas egy sikeres Equilibrium album, és örülünk is neki, de annak jobban, hogy a rajongók olyan nagyszerűek a bulikon, lehetőség van a kapcsolatteremtésre és így együtt egy hatalmas bulit tudunk összehozni. Nagyon jó visszajelzéseket kapunk a rajongóktól, oldalakról és magazinoktól egyaránt. Vannak úgymond negatív kritikák is, de az erős rajongói tábor miatt, lassan eltűnnek. A rajongók a bírái azoknak a rossz kritikáknak! (haha)
Lehet csak nekem tűnik gyors iramnak, de elég hamar összedobtátok az új „Rekreatur” című anyagotokat! Ennyire lendületben vagytok? Mikor kezdtétek el a dalokat írni?
Andreas: Igazad van, ez új az Equilibrium számára! (hahha) Persze ennek meg van az oka. Tavaly óta sokkal jobban összpontosítunk a bandára. Így több időnk van foglalkozni a Rekreatur albummal. 2009 nyara és ősz között folytak a munkálatok. A dalszöveg pedig 2009 decembere és 2010 márciusa közt íródtak. A decemberi turné után rögtön stúdióba voltunk, hogy felvegyük az új számokat!
Dobos és énekesi poszton is voltak cserék! Hogyan találtatok rá a 2 új úriemberre? Mennyire volt nekik új dolog az epikus, himnuszos stílus?
Andreas: Az új énekest, Robse-t már évek óta ismerjük. Egy projectre hívtuk meg, utána pedig egyértelmű volt, hogy szeretnénk, ha ő lenne az Equilibrium új énekese. Csak egy telefonba került és boldogan csatlakozott a bandához! (hahah). Jó kapcsolatban állunk egy izraeli barátunkkal és mikor megtudta, hogy új dobost keresünk, összehozott Hati-val. Tényleg kiváló felvételeket küldött, és világos volt, hogy kell a fickó! Néhány dolgot el kellett előtte intézni és nem volt túl könnyű összehozni az első próbát, de utána minden a helyére állt és nagyszerűen beilleszkedtek a bandába! Hati évek óta foglalkozik népzenével, Robse-nak pedig van egy pogány metál bandája, úgyhogy szerintem nem voltak gondjaik a stílusunkkal.
Elég sok mindent hallhatunk egy-egy dalban. Nem féltetek semmiféle kísérletezéstől, a billentyűtémák fontos szerepet töltenek be, a gitárok majdhogynem háttérbe szorultak. Beszélnél a dalok szerkezetéről? Hogyan alakul ki és hogyan oszlik meg a metalos és himnuszos atmoszférikus elemek a zenétekben?
Andreas: Különböző zenei stílusukat kedvelünk, a metálon kívül. Amikor elkezdünk zenét írni, megvan már az a zenei hangulat, amit át akarunk adni a dalokon keresztül. A billentyű és a nagyzenekari hangzás nagyon fontosak, az atmoszféra megteremtéséhez. Ez egy kicsit megváltozott, mert a gitárt egy kicsit jobban az előtérbe helyeztük. Általánosságban viszont semmi sem változott az Equilibrium egyedi stílusát illetően. Az új album sokkal jobban hasonlít a fellépésekre, mert ott is előtérben van a gitár.
A szövegek németül vannak. Fontos számodra, hogy németül íródjanak? Milyen távoli időkről szólnak a nóták nagyrészt?
Andreas: Nem arról van szó, hogy németül kell írni őket, csak ez az anyanyelvem, így a legjobban ezen a nyelven tudok dalszöveget írni. Az előző énekesünknek volt néhány pogány és északi mitológia témája, valamint néhány saját maga által tapasztalt témája. Én is, néhány témát leszámítva, a mitológiákról írok. Ezúttal a germán mitológiáról, amire viszont a német nyelv kiváló! Van néhány pogány hatású anyag is és többé-kevésbé személyes jellegű cucc is. A személyes jelleg igazából az Equilibrummal eddig megélt tapasztalatokból táplálkozik.
Azt hiszem az előző albumotokhoz képest, sokat fejlődtetek. Leginkább mi az, ami kiemelkedő a zenétekben? A rajongók mely dalokat szerették meg leginkább? Az új lemezről melyiket tippeled favoritnak?
Andreas: Szerintem ez arról szól, hogy átadjuk az érzéseket a zenén keresztül. A zenénkben tényleg változó és különféle stílusok kelnek életre… A legnépszerűbb dalok szerintem a Blut im Auge, Unbesiegt, Met, Unter der Eiche, stb. lesznek. Ezt egy számra lehetetlen leszűkíteni. (hahha) Majd a rajongók eldöntik, melyik tetszik nekik a legjobban. Néhány személyes kedvenc: „In Heiligen Hallen”, „Der ewige Sieg”, „Der Wassermann” és „Wenn Erdreich Bricht”. De a többi is nagyszerű! A számok különböznek és nagyon intenzívek.
Mennyire tartod jó dolognak, hogy ennyire népszerű lett a pogány műfaj?
Andreas: Egyrészről jó, mert szeretem a zenét. A „színtér” egyre növekszik az évek során, és végre, sok év után, lehetőség volt külföldi pogány bandákat is látni. Persze, nem a pogány bandák találták fel a pogány vallást, de jó másoktól is hallani a témáról. Nagyobb érdekeltséget teremt, be lehet látni a színfalak mögé és olyat is lehet tanulni, amit a mindennapi életben is felhasználhatsz
Hatalmas európai turnésorozatban lehet részetek a jól ismert Heidenfest részeseként! Mivel készültök ezekre a koncertekre? Mit ígérsz a magyar közönségnek szeptember 28-ra:)?
Andreas: Felkészülünk a turnéra. Sokat próbálunk és tervezünk a fellépésekre. A rajongók energetikus és erőteljes koncertekre készülhetnek, néhány „klasszikusra” és, persze az új album számaira!
Mitológiák közül melyik foglalkoztat leginkább? Minek a hatására és mikortól kezdtél el érdeklődni az ilyen dolgok iránt?
Andreas: Nem igazán emlékszem, még nagyon kicsi voltam, a nagypapám mesélt néhány csodálatos történetet a mitológiákból és mondákból. Az elejétől kezdve lehengerlő volt. Nyitott vagyok a mitológiákat tekintve, jelenleg az ó-germán és germán mitológiák foglalkoztatnak.
A mai modern világban mit tartasz érdekesnek, értékesnek? Szerinted mik lesznek azok a dolgok 500 év múlva, amire szívesen visszaemlékezünk:)?
Andreas: Talán az egészségügyet és gyógyszereket érintő áttörés az. Az elmúlt 100 évhez képest, hatalmas lépést tettünk. És persze az Equilibrium megalalkulása!! (HAHA!)

Hi there! How do you do nowadays? How satisfied are you with the „Sagas”? What were the feedbacks like?
Andreas: Thanks, everything is fine! Sagas is a successful Equilibrium album, we´re really happy about that fact, but we´re even happier that our fans get so enthused at our shows, and it´s a lot of fun to interact and have a great show together! We got very good feedbacks from our fans, sites and magazines. We also got some, let´s say, more negative reviews, but they are slowly disappearing, because of our strong fan base. They judge all those bad reviews for themselves! (hahaha)
Maybe it’s only strange to me, but you made the „Rekreatur” quite fastly! Do you have this much buoyancy? When did you start to write the songs?
Andreas: You´re right, that´s something new for Equilibrium! (hahaha) Of course there is a reason. We planned to concentrate more on Equilibrium since last year. Therefore we had more time to implement the album Rekreatur. We started writing the songs between summer and autumn in 2009, the lyrics were written between December 2009 and March 2010. And after the Tour in December we went straight into the studio to record our new songs!
There were changes in line-up at drums and vocal sections as well. How did you find the 2 new members? How new the epic, hymnic style was to them?
Andreas: We know our new singer Robse for years. We planned him for a project, but after the split up it was really obvious that he will be the new Equilibrium singer. It was just one phone call, and he was happily in the Band! (hahaha!) We have a good contact to a friend of us in Israel, and as she recognized that we were searching for a new drummer, she created the connection to Hati. He sent us a really outstanding recording, and it was clear that we need this guy! First we had to check some forms and stuff before, and it was not that easy to have the first rehearsal. But after that we´re really happy with our two new members, they fit really good in our line up! Hati is interested in folk music for years, and Robse has an own Pagan Metal band, so I think they were no problems with our style.
We can find many things in one track. You haven’t had fear by experimenting, the keyboard has a major role, the guitars are almost in background. Could you please tell a few words about the structure of the songs? How do you create and how do you divide the metal, hymnic, atmospheric elements in your music?
Andreas: We´re interested in really different music styles, also beside the metal genre. When we start composing we have at first a special aspect or feeling we want to show through the song. Keyboards and Orchestration are both very important for creating atmospheres. It changed a bit, because now we put the guitars more to the front. But in general, nothing changed in the unique style of Equilibrium! Our new album shows more the daily routine of Equilibrium shows, because there, the guitars are also more in front.
The lyrics are in German. Is it important to you, for the lyrics be written in German? How past times mostly are the songs about?
Andreas: It´s not about to have them in German, just for the reason that they are German. Of course it´s my first language, and therefore I´m able to write best in German. Our last singer had some pagan topics about north mythology and also self experienced lyrics. I also wrote, beside some other topics, about mythology. This time about old German mythology, and in this case, German language fits perfect! Now we have some pagan influenced stuff, mythology and some more or less personal stuff. The personal stuff is really bounded on experiences we had in early Equilibrium years!
I think you progressed a lot since your last album. What is the major thing in your music, that is outstanding? Which songs do the fans like the most? Which song do you think will be favourite from the new album?
Andreas: I think it´s about the feeling we pass with our music. There are really various and different styles in awaking emotions in our songs. One of the most popular songs should be Blut im Auge, Unbesiegt, Met, Unter der Eiche and so on. To reduce it to just one song is nearly impossible. (hahaha) Let our fans decide which songs they like the best. I can just name a few I personally like. It´s „In Heiligen Hallen”, „Der ewige Sieg”, „Der Wassermann” and „Wenn Erdreich Bricht”. But the rest are also really great! The songs are very different from one to aother, but very intensive.
Do you consider a good thing, that the pagan genre became this popular?
Andreas: On the one it´s good, because I like the music. The „scene” became bigger and bigger in the last years, and therefore it was possible for the first time to see some pagan bands from abroad. Of course pagan bands didn´t invented paganism, but it´s a good way to get in contact with all this topics. But it creates more interest, to look behind the scenes and learn something what you can use in daily live.
You are gonna have your part out of the immense European fest, the Heidenfest. How are you preparing for it? What can you promise to the Hungarian fans for the 28th of September? 🙂
Andreas: We will have a good preparation for the tour. It contents a lot of rehearsals and a plan for our live show! Our fans can expect a show full of energetic and powerful songs. Some „classics” and of course hits from our new album!
Which of the mythologies do you prefer? What was the thing that made you like myths and when was it?
Andreas: I can hardly remember as I was a really little child, my grandfather told me some amazing stories about myths and sagas. It was fascinating from the beginning! I´m really open minded about mythology, at the moment I prefer really old German / Germanic mythology and sagas.
What do you consider important and valuable in the current modern world? What do you think, what are those things, that mankind will remember back after 500 years? 🙂
Andreas: Maybe it was the breaking point for good healthcare an medicine. Compared with the development in the at least last 100 years, we did a huge step forward! And of course the foundation of Equilibrium! (hahaha!)
