Üdvözöllek benneteket az oldalon. Eleddig nem sokat hallottam a „Heorot” névről, de a bemutatkozó anyagotok nagyon megfogott. Kérlek mutassátok be a zenekart és mit kell tudnunk az idők folyamán megjelent első két demó anyagról?
Üdvözlet és köszönet! Heorot-ot 2002-ben alapította „Modsognir” Ollikainen. Tipi Nokelainen (ének, gitár, szinti és ónsíp), AP Konga (gitár), Kimi Intke (basszus), Mikkor Nokelainen (dobok) és Jani „Krago” Ambrusin (szinti) játsszanak a Ragnarök albumon. A demónk elég hamar célba ért. Olyan hamar lehetőséget kaptunk a Ragnarök kiadására, hogy a számok nagy része még demo állapotban voltak.
A zenétek stílusa elég népszerű mostanság, rengeteg zenekar tűnt\tűnik fel ebben a közegben. Ki volt hatással rátok és mely bandák munkáját tartjátok etalonnak ebben a műfajban?
Sok bandát meghallgattunk a stílusból és nem igazán szeretnénk egyet sem a másik fölé emelni. Az ilyen számok atmoszférája többet jelent egy bizonyos bandánál. Csak gondolj a finn citera hangjára, mely a csuka állkapcsából készül (ez egy Väinämöinen hangszer a finn nemzeti eposzból, a kalevalából származik). Az efféle dolgokból áll össze a zenénk hangulata és így közelítjük meg a zenét és a csatakiáltás is a kulturális örökség része.
Beszéljünk egy kicsit a „Ragnarök” című első lemezetekről. Mivel 2007-ben jelent meg gondolom már volt időtök rendesen átlátni a dolgokat. Mennyire vagytok megelégedve vele, és mennyire tükrözi a korongon szereplő kilenc dal a „Heorot” zenei világát?
Ahogy korábban is mondtam, kicsit siettünk az album elkészítésével, ez az oka, amiért kerültek az albumra korábbi demo számok is. Idővel a következő album még jobb lesz.
Milyen visszajelzések jöttek eddig az albumra? Megvagytok-e elégedve a fogadtatásával? Egyáltalán mennyire érdekel benneteket, hogy milyennek hallja és mi a véleménye más embernek a zenétekről?
A Heorot rajongóknak és a Stygian Crypt Productions profi promóciójának köszönhetően nagyon jó visszajelzéseket és kritikákat kaptunk külföldről. Nagy a versengés a metál bandák között itt, Finnországban, a minőség pedig olyan magas, hogy nehéz nagy áttörést elérni. Nem árt ha egy kicsit hozzátartozol Finnországhoz valamilyen formában.
Finnország hemzseg a metal bandáktól. Szinte minden hétre jut egy-egy új zenekar. Milyennek látjátok a mostani színteret, és ott milyen szerepet tölt be a „Heorot”?
A Heorot már meglévő elemeket használ, de új, saját formában. Úgy gondolom, hogy a banda sajátos megjelenése nehéz munka eredménye, ami sok időt vesz igénybe. Nem akarjuk újra feltalálni a kereket! Sok metál banda van Finnországban akiket tisztelünk és mi is próbálunk ott lenni a színen.
Mennyi fellépése volt eddig a zenekarnak? Milyen élménnyel gazdagodtatok az élő koncertek folyamán?
A Ragnarök után céltudatosan csak néhány bulit csináltunk. Együtt elhatároztuk, hogy készülünk a következő albumra és az élő showk-ra. Az élő show-k mindig hatalmas szenvedéllyel zajlanak az elejétől teljesen a végéig.
Mit jelent számotokra a pogányság és a természet közeliség? Mennyire tartjátok fontosnak a mai embernek átadni az ősi kultúra minden egyes mozzanatát?
A természet sokat jelent nekem, és az egész finn népnek. Ha a finnek nyugalmat szeretnének és gondolkodni, elmennek az erdőbe és bámulják a tüzet. Fontosnak érzem, hogy ápoljuk a kulturális örökséget, amely majdnem elpusztult a világ egyik legnagyobb promo turné, a keresztes hadjárat alatt.
Pár szóban fejtsétek ki a véleményeteket a modern kor vívmányainak számító internetről, mp3-akról, myspace oldalakról stb. Egy zenekart mennyire érint ez hátrányosan, vagy esetleg adott esetben mennyit segít?
A Heorot még mindig nagyrészt fiatal banda, így minden látható és hallható változás nagyszerű. A bandáknak és művészeknek pénz kell, mint mindenki másnak, hogy elvégezzék a munkájukat és fejlődhessenek.
Mik a további tervek a zenekar háza táján? Mikor jön ki a második korong? Esetleg turné lesz-e?
Mindenkinek van más project-je jelenleg. De ugyanakkor jön a következő Heorot is. Tájékoztatni fogunk, mikor jön majd az új album. Remélhetőleg lehetőség lesz turnéra is.

Hi, and welcome to our page! I haven’t heard a lot of things about Heorot, but your debut really got me. Please introduce the band and tell us what should we now about your two previous demos.
Hails & thanks! Heorot is founded in 2002 by Teemu „Modsognir” Ollikainen. In album Ragnarök were playing Tipi Nokelainen (vocals, guitars, synths and tin whistle), AP Konga (guitars), Kimi Intke (bass), Mikko Nokelainen (drums) and Jani „Krago” Ambrusin (synths). Our first demos were searching for the direction to our music and those were made quite quickly. Also we got a chance to get released Ragnarök so suddenly that the album´s songs are mostly from earlier demos.
The genre you’re in is quite popular nowadays, many bands (have) appear(ed). Who had great impact on you and the work of which band do you consider absolute number one? (In this genre, of course.)
We´ve listened a lot of different bands from this genre and it isn´t possible to mention just one over others. The atmosphere of this kind of songs means more than one particular band. For example when you think what sounds like an instrument called Finnish zither made from pike´s jawbone (this is Väinämöinen´s instrument from Finland´s national epic Kalevala). From that kind of things comes our atmosphere and approaching to music and the warcry of culture heritage.
Let’s talk a little about your first album titled Ragnarök. Since it was released in 2007, I suppose you had time to think about it. How satisfied are you with it and how well do the nine songs on the disc reflect the musical world of Heorot?
Like I told earlier, we had a little hurry with the album and that´s the reason why there´s songs from our earlier demos. Next album will be even better, made and executed with time.
What feedback have you got on the album so far? Are you satisfied with its acceptance? By the way, how much do you care about other people’s opinions on your music?
We´ve gotten very good feedback and reviews from abroad, thanks to Heorot fans from all over world and also Stygian Crypt Productions´s professional promotions. There´s big competition with metal bands here in Finland and the quality is so high that it’s been tough to break through here. Also you have to belong to small inside here in Finland.
Finland is full of metal bands, almost every week there’s a new band popping out of nowhere. What do you think about the current scene and what role does Heorot play in Finland”s scene?
Heorot uses already existing elements, but in a new, own ways. I think that bands own special appearance comes after hard work and that can take a lot of time. We´re not trying to invent a wheel again! There´s lots of metal bands in Finland what we respect and also we are hanging within the scene.
How many gigs have you had? What experience do live gigs give to you?
After Ragnarök we´ve had purposely just few gigs. We decided together to start preparing next album and to get the band to live condition. Live shows are always huge rage from the beginning to the bloody end.
What does paganism and being close to nature mean to you? How important is it for you to pass on every aspect of ancient culture to today”s people?
Nature means a lot for me like all the Finnish people. When Finnish wants to calm down and think about things he goes to the woods and stares to the fire. I think it´s important to foster culture heritage which was almost demolished during one of the world´s biggest promo tours, crusades.
What do you think about the creations of the modern age, such as Internet/mp3/myspace, etc. ? Are these things good or bad for a band like you?
Heorot is still partly young band so all changes to be seen and heard are good. Bands and artists need money like everyone else to do our work and to improve.
What are the future plans around the band? When is the second album coming? Will there be a tour?
We all have also many other projects in this moment. But still there´s coming new Heorot at the same time. We will inform when the next album is going to be released. Hopefully then is possible to make a tour also.
