A Sacrificium létrejötte réges-régre nyúlik vissza. Végig megmaradtatok az underground élet krémjeként. Minden alkotásotok figyelemre méltó. Aki most olvas először rólatok ebben az interjúban, mit mondanál magatokról, mi az, ami miatt érdemes hallgatni titeket?
Leírhatatlanul jóképűek vagyunk hehehe! Nem mondanám, hogy akármiben különlegesek lennénk. Csak egy maroknyi srác, akik szeretnek zenélni az aktuális divattól függetlenül. Szeretjük azt amit csinálunk, szerintem ez adja meg a zenénk hitelességét.
Az évek számához viszonyítva nem sok albummal rendelkeztek, de ez nem lehet meghatározó tényező a zenei életben. Ettől függetlenül érdekelne, hogy voltak –e hátráltató tényezők, amiért nem haladt előre a zenekar a céljai felé?
Ha azt nézzük nem mondanám hogy kevés albumot adtunk ki. Jó persze, 9 évbe telt míg nyélbe ütöttük az első kiadói szerződésünket a „Cold Black Piece of Flesh” albumhoz, de az első hivatalos megjelentetésünk előtt volt pár demó felvételünk kazettán és CD-n. De visszatérve, volt egy kis pénzügyi gondunk a „Prey for Your Gods”-al, mert az „Escaping the Stupor” után az előző kiadónk, a Black Lotus Records csődbe ment, így saját magunknak kellett visszafizetni a banknak azt a hitelt, amit a felvételekhez vettünk fel. Beletelt egy kis időbe míg összegyűjtöttük azt a pénzt, ami a „Prey for Your Gods”-hoz kellett.
Most jött ki a legújabb anyagotok a Whirlwind Records kiadónál, amit szerencsére már hallottam is. Szerintem nagyon meggyőzőek a dalok, sallangmentes Death Metal. Miben látod az erősségét?
Szerintem a mostani dalok összeállítása jobb mint az előző kiadványoké. Ennek az oka, hogy együtt írtuk a dalokat a próbateremben, így mindenkinek volt beleszólása a dalokba. A felvételek mixelése is nagyon tetszik. Az „Escaping the Stupor”-hoz hasonlóan svéd Panic Room Studios-al dolgoztunk megint együtt, Thomas „Plec” Johansson pedig ismét kiváló munkát végzett.
Az előző anyag óta tagcserén is átestetek. Mikortól mondható egy új erős Sacrificium felállás? Wolfgang beszállása után özönlöttek az új ötletek a dalokhoz :)?
Az előző gitárosunk, Oliver Tesch, a felvételek során hagyta ott a bandát személyes okokból. Wolfgang, Thorsten és Matthias már csinált pár remek demót a következő felvételhez, ami tökéletesen illett a Sacrificum hangzásához.
Az anyag ismét a Whirlwind kiadónál jelent meg. A Black Lotus kiadó megszűnése után, miért döntöttetek a régi kiadó felkeresésében? Próbálkoztatok másoknál is?
Természetesen több lehetőséget is megvizsgáltunk, és kaptunk is pár ajánlatot nagyobb kiadóktól, de egyszerűen a Whirlwind Records ajánlotta a banda igényei számára a legjobb feltételeket. Már azt is tudtuk, hogy profi munkát végeznek és minden egyes szerződtetett bandájukkal rengeteget törődnek, ami számunkra sokkal fontosabb, mint a pénz.
Lehet én látom rosszul, de manapság egy csomó zenekar mindenféle szart belevisz a „Death Metal” stílusába és elbassza. Szerencsére ti megmaradtatok a valós, igazi Death Metal elemeknél. Mennyire tartod fontosnak a műfajhoz való hűséget?
Személy szerint az, hogy a death metál visszatért a Slipknotnak és néhány másik metalcore bandának köszönhető. Félre ne érts, a 
death metál soha nem volt halott, de belevitt egy kis pezsgést a szcénába az, hogy néhány banda megalkotta a saját stílusát és kicsit „mainstream”-ebbé tette. Tisztelem a munkájukat annak ellenére, hogy nem kifejezetten hallgatom a zenéjüket, mert a 80-as és 90-es évek zenéin nőttünk fel. Tehát a Sacrificium megmarad a gyökereinél, azok a bandák pedig ugyanígy tesznek a saját gyökereikkel.
A 10 dal közül melyikkel vacakoltatok legtöbbet, amire elérte a végleges formáját? Ki szokott a legtöbbet kötekedni?
Egy dalunk sem volt ami különleges figyelmet igényelt volna hogy elnyerje a végső formáját. Persze volt, hogy megváltoztattunk részeket a dalokban és átrendeztünk egyes elemeket, de ez általános velejárója a dalírásnak… kiindulsz egy ötletből aztán megváltoztatsz benne részeket vagy részleteket, így kialakítva a végső változatot. Számunkra mint banda, fontos, hogy minden egyes tag elégedett legyen a felvételen található minden egyes dallal.
Milyen különbséget, fejlődést érzel a korábbi kiadványokhoz képest?
Az „Escaping the Stupor”-al a mix és masterelés terén minőségi albumot adtunk ki, így alapvető célunk volt egy még ennél is jobb hangzás létrehozása 2013 legkorszerűbb technológiájával. A „Prey for your Gods” esetében sokkal durvább hangzású dalokat is próbáltunk komponálni. Kevesebb dallamot és több blast beatet használtunk, miközben kerültük hogy unalmas legyen a felvétel.
Mostanság többet fogtok koncertezni? Milyen tervek vannak?
November minden hétvégéjén volt egy kiadási koncertünk, és próbálunk 2014-re is szervezni pár koncertet. A banda imád színpadon lenni, így biztos vagyok benne, hogy jelen leszünk.

ENGLISH VERSION:
The formation of Sacrificium goes back a long time. You have stayed the crème de la crème of underground life. Everything you make is worthy of attention. For those who read about you for the first time, what would you say about yourself, what is it that makes you a desirable choice?
We are extremely good looking hahahaha! Well I don´t think that there is something special about us. We are just some guys who like to play music no matter of any fashion. We just like what we are doing and I think this makes our music and us authentic.
Compared to the number of years, you don’t have many albums. Regardless, I would like to ask, were there anything that hindered the band’s progress towards its goals?
Actually I don´t think that we didn´t release many albums. Sure it took 9 years until we got our 1st record deal with the album COLD BLACK PIECE OF FLESH but before our 1st official release we recorded a few demo tapes and CDs. Anyway we had some financial issues with PREY FOR YOUR GODS because after ESCAPING THE STUPOR our last label BLACK LOTUS RECORDS became bankrupt so we had to pay back the bank credit which we took for the recordings by our own and it took a while for us to save the money that we needed for the PREY FOR YOUR GODS.
You have just released your latest album through Whirlwind Records, and I had the luck of having already heard it. I really think the songs are top notch, Death Metal style without anything unnecessary. What do you think, what is its strong point?
I think we have better arrangements within the songs compared to our previous releases. Reason for this is the way we wrote the songs together in the rehearsal room so everyone had his influence to the songs. I also really like the mix of the record. We worked again together with the swedish PANIC ROOM STUDIO as we did for ESCAPING THE STUPOR and Thomas “Plec” Johansson again did an awesome job.
Since the last material, you had a line-up change. From which point would you call this a new and strong Sacrificium line up? With Wolfgang joining, were you flooded with new ideas for the songs? : )
Our old guitar player Oliver Tesch left the band during the recording sessions to the album because of personal reasons but Wolfgang, Thorsten and Matthias already recorded some awesome demo songs for the next record which fit perfect to the sound of SACRIFICUM.
This was published by Whirlwind. After the end of Black Lotus, why did you choose to get in contact with your old publisher? Have you tried anyone else?
Sure we checked out any options and got some offers of bigger secular labels but Whirlwind Records simply offered us the best conditions compared to the bands needs. We also knew already that they work very professional and care about every single band they have signed which is more important for us than money.
Maybe I see it wrong, but nowadays lots of bands mix the style of death metal with a bunch of crap, and just mess the whole thing up. Luckily you stood by the true and real death metal elements. How important do you think it is to stay loyal to a genre?
Personally I think that bands like Slipknot or some Metalcore bands are the reason why Death Metal is back in business. Don´t get me wrong Death Metal was never dead but there is a boom in the scene just because some bands started to create their own style of it and made it more “mainstream”. I respect their work even I don´t really listen to their music a lot because I grew up with the music of the 80s and 90s. So basically SACRIFICIUM sticks with its roots and those bands are doing the same with their roots.
Out of the ten songs, which one did you have to tweak the most to reach its final form? Who likes to bicker the most?
There was no special song which we had to work the most with to get to the final version. Sure we changed parts on each song and rearranged single parts but this is just the common progress with song writing…… you start with an idea and after a while you change parts or just little things to get to the final version. It´s important for us as a band that every member is satisfied with every single song of the record.
Compared to the previous releases, what differences, improvements are there?
With ESCAPING THE STUPOR we released a high level product talking about the mix and mastering so it was basically our goal to create an even better sound which is state of the art of 2013. We also tried to compose songs for PREY FOR YOUR GODS which are more rough. We used less melodies and more blast beats without becoming boring during the record.
Will there be more performances these days? What are your plans?
We already played in November each weekend a release show and will try to get a couple of shows for 2014. The bands love to be on stage so I am pretty sure that we will be pretty present.
