A norvég 1349 négy év pihenő után jelenteti meg a legújabb albumát „Revelations of the Black Flame” néven, mely hivatalosan május 25-től lesz majd kapható. Az új album merőben más mint az eddigiek. Máglyán égő boszorkányok – körülbelül ez jutott eszembe a kezdő üvöltésről, s az azutáni „búgásról”, melyet az első dalban („Invocation”) hallhatunk. Itt még megjelennek némi thrash-esebb gitártémák is, s a végén egészen jó dal kerekedik ki az egészből. Tipikus 1349-es gitártémákkal kezdődik a „Serpentine Sibilance”, és itt igazából számítottam a zenekarra jellemző darálásra is, ami nem maradt el, de természetesen nem olyan formában, mint azt ahogy az utóbbi albumokon megszokhattuk.
Álljunk meg egy kicsit a harmadik szerzeménynél, mely a „Horns” címet viseli. 3 percnyi „búgásból” áll ez a dal, és erről rögtön a Burzum jutott eszembe, ugyanis ott hallottam ehhez hasonló sötét hangulatú szerzeményeket.
A „Maggot Fetus…Teeth like THorns” egy szintén thrash-esebb nóta, néhol extra gyors dobokkal. Erre a dalra nagyon kíváncsi lennék egy élő koncerten, szerintem hatalmas lenne! A gitárszóló is fantasztikus, nekem ez a kedvencem az albumról.
No aztán a „Misantrophy”-nál megint nem értettem, hogy mi van. Ugyanis ez megint egy lassú, csak billentyűvel és némi gitárral rendelkező dal, melyre ha azt mondanák, hogy ez a legújabb Dödheimsgard-albumról egy szerzemény, még el is hinném, hiszen az a zenekar alkalmazza előszeretettel az ilyesféle témákat.
A hatodik nótánál, vagyis az „Uncreation”-nél kirázott a hideg, amikor meghallottam a kezdő gitártémát, bár ez még mindig nem hasonlít a régebbi 1349 dalokhoz, viszont nagyon kellemes témákkal rendelkezik.
A „Set the controls for the heart of the sun” szintén egy misztikus, kissé depresszív hangzásvilágú szám, melyben a gyors doboknak olyan hangzásuk van, mint mikor gépfegyverrel lőtték le az embereket a haláltáborokban. Aztán a dal vége már egészen gyors.
A nyolcas, „Solitude” szintén egy akusztikus, lassú dal, nekem ez egy kicsit unalmasnak tűnt, személy szerint alig vártam, hogy vége legyen, és kezdődjön valami pörgősebb nóta. Végül az utolsó dal („At The Gate”) egy kissé depresszív gitártémával kezdődik, majd folytatódnak a lassú témák egy kissé furcsa énekkel. Az ember már megszokta Ravn énekes sikítozását az előző albumokon, ám ez itt most abbamarad. Miközben az albumot hallgattam, olyan érzésem volt, hogyha ezt most éjszaka egy hideg templomban lejátszanák, és nekem ott kéne egyedül ülnöm, valószínűleg nem kis félelemmel ülnék ott.
Mint már említettem, ez az album egészen más mint az elmúlt zúzós-darálós-sikítozós-üvöltözős albumok. Sokkal több a lassabb, misztikusabb, dallamosabb rész, na és persze az ének nélküli dalok. Szerintem sokaknak nem fog tetszeni, néhány részt én is furcsálltam, de részemről majdnem maximális, 9/10.

ENGLISH VERSION:
1349 from Norway is now releasing their new album in 25.05, titled „Revelations of the Black Flame”. Their last album was released on 2005. This album really differs from their previouses. Witches in pyre – that was my first thought, when I heard the huge scream and than the buzzing in the first song, called „Invocation”. You can hear some thrash metal themes here and it’s becoming a good song by the end. „Serpentine Sibilance” starts with typical 1349 themes and despite that I expected the fast tempo in this song it’s not as fast as their tracks on their previous albums.
We should make a stop at the third song, titled „Horns”. 3 minutes of buzzing, which reminded me of Burzum when I was listening to it for the first time, as Varg used to have similarly dark themes.
„Maggot Fetus…Teeth like Thorns” is also a good song with trash metal themes and sometimes extra fast drums. I’d like to see this song live, I think it would be really good. Guitars are fantastic, too, this is my favourite song from this album. In the next song called „Misanthropy” there are things I don’t understand. This also a slower paced song with piano and some guitars. If you told me, that this song is from Dödheimsgard’s new album, I wouldn’t doubt it for a second, because they have themes similar to this song.
„Uncreation” made me shiver, especially the first guitar themes in the song but it still sounds different from the older 1349 songs, it has got lovely themes, though.
„Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” is also a mystical and a bit depressive song. Fast drums sound as the machine guns to kill people in the extermination camps. The song gets even faster as it progresses towards its end.
„Solitude” is a slower, acoustic song and I thing it’s a bit boring. I can’t wait the end of the song and the beginning of another faster track.
The last piece on this album, called „At The Gate” begins with depressive guitar themes and then continues with strange vocals. The screams of Ravn (the vocalist of the band) that we loved on the previous albums are totally absent on this one.
While I was listening to this album, I had the feeling that if I was to listen to it alone in a cold, dark church at night I’d be frightened as hell.
As I mentioned, this album is not as fast and screamy as the previous albums. There are more slower songs and of course there are many without vocals. I think many people won’t like it, but in my opinion, it deserves an almost maximum score, 9/10
