Sok ember úgy van vele, ha meghallja azt a kifejezést, hogy „symphonic black metal” már rögtön elkezdi húzni a száját. Szerintem ez nagyban köszönhető olyan zenekaroknak, mint a Dimmu Borgir vagy a Cradle Of Filth, akik ugye úgymond „kiárusították” a black metalt. Ennek igazságtartalmát, vagy, „így van, nem így van”- a vitába most nem mennék bele. A lényeg, hogy itt van egy finn zenekar, nevezetesen az Alghazanth, aki szintén ebbe a kategóriában tartoznak. Megmondom őszintén, kicsit félve is raktam be a már ’95 óta létező banda ötödik korongját, a „Wreath of Thevetat”-ot. Aztán a végén nem, hogy nem csalódtam, hanem még meg is lepődtem a zene színvonalán. Semmi közük a már említett két zenekarhoz, talán csak annyiban, hogy a billentyűs hangszer itt is nagy szerepet kap, de maga a zenei alap sokkal agresszívebb, és az összképet tekintve is sokkal többet nyújt ez a banda. Ha zenekart kéne említenem, talán a Naglfart mondanám kiindulási pontként.
Már rögtön az első nótánál, a „Moving Mountains”-nál az államat keresgéltem a padlón, hogy milyen jó témákat is vonultatnak fel. Kegyetlen tempók, kemény black metalos károgás, és hatalmas monumentális jelleg jellemzik a dalt. Sőt, melódiákban is bővelkedik, de mégsem veszíti el szikár jellegét, és jó, hogy a gitárok is kiveszik a részüket a dallamosabb részekből. A második „The Kings to Come” kicsit enged a tempóból, és a billentyűs futamok már szinte teátrális jelleget kölcsönöznek a nótának. A „The Phosphorescent” az első nótával áll párhuzamban mondanom sem kell, hogy ismét kiváló szerzemény. Számomra abszolút favorit a „Rain of Stars” kiváló gitárdallamaival, jó dalfelépítésével, kellően gonosz atmoszférával.
Kicsit kilóg a lemezről a „Future Made Flesh” nem oly tömény jellege miatt. Átláthatóbb dalszerkezettel bír, és a konkrét riffek is jobban kijönnek. Jól is jön egy ilyen dal is, mivel eléggé sűrű az anyag, és egyik nóta sincs 5 perc alatt. Az abszolút csúcspont viszont a lemezt záró „As Nothing Consumes Everything”. Kicsit a Dissection munkássága jutott eszembe róla, és hát mondanom sem kell, hogy már ezért érdemes meghallgatni ezt a finn hordát. A hangzás kiváló, a zenészek pedig tökéletesen uraik hangszereiknek. Viszont ortodox black metal hívők kerüljék az anyagot, ám akik nem riadnak vissza az említett megoldásoktól, azoknak szinte kötelező ez az anyag.

ENGLISH VERSION:
A lot of people when hears the words Symphonic Black Metal as a band’s style starts to act unwillingly about such music without listening to it in reality. In my opinion this is the fault of groups like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth who sold out black metal. I don’t want to get into a deeper explanation about this statement’s truth at this time. The most significiant thing now is that we’ve got here Alghazanth and this band plays Symhonic Death Metal too. To be quite frank I put on this 13 years old band’s cd called Wreath of Thevetat with a bit of fear but at the end I wasn’t even close to be dissapointed, the level of this release really astonished me. They have nothing to do with the above-mentioned two bands except that they use a lot keyboard instruments but the foundations of their music are a lot more agressive and at the end their music gives a lot more. If I had to name band I’d say Naglfar’s music is similar to Alghazanth’s.
Even at the first song called Moving Mountains I had to search for my chin on the ground because of the great musical themes they use. Extremelly fast guitar riffing, hard black metal cawing and huge monumental mood characterize this song. Beside that it has a lot of melodies but it still keeps it’s haggard nature and it’s a good point that guitars take their parts from these melodies too. The second one, The Kings to Come decelerates a bit and the keyboards give the song a theatrical feel. The Prosphorescent is like the first song, do I have to say it’s a great song too? My absolute favourite is Rain of Stars with it’s excellent guitar melodies, good song structure and an adequatly evil atmosphere.
Future Made Flesh a bit stands out from the album because it’s not that raw like the other songs of the album. It has a clearer structure and the riffs are more sensible too. It wasn’t a bad idea to put this song on the record ’cause the others are much harder to digest and none of them are shorter than 5 minutes. The total apex of the CD is the last song called As Nothing Consumes Everything. It reminds me a bit of Dissection’s work so because of this it worths a listen. Anyway the sound is excellent and the musicians are perfect on their instruments. I don’t advise this CD to ortodox black metal listeners but for those who don’t feel startled of such music this one is obligatory.
