A Brent Williams (dob), James O’Neal (basszusgitár), Russ Harin (gitár), Steve Green (gitár, hörgés) felállású kétéves amerikai banda debütáló anyaga ez. Lust Of Decay, Grotesque Butchery, Apotheosys). Zenéjüket brutál death metalként lehetne jellemezni, annak is inkább a technikásabb fajtájából. Klasszikus death metal elemek mellett a grindcore ütemek, a páros-páratlan ritmusjáték vonul fel a lemezen. Egy Misfits átirat is hallható, hát, mit mondjak… 🙂 Az anyagon vendégként Jay Barnes vokalista szerepelt, a felvételek a Sound Lab Studios munkáját dicsérik.
Az első szám a Dead In Sixty Seconds. Korrekt.
A Punished Humanity ugyanezt a vonalat követi természetesen, erőteljes gitárhangzás, a basszus mormoló robaja és a dob játéka teljesen magával ragadó. 🙂
A The Birth Of Violence inkább a grindcore vonalat hozza előtérbe, persze azt sem kompromisszummentesen. Tényleg nehéz megfogni, főleg a kissé VoiVod-ot idéző thrash metal-os betéttéma miatt, de akár említhettem volna a The Possessed-et is. Minden death metal rajongónak be fog jönni, efelől semmi kétségem sincs.
Az Euphoric Flesh Consunption a death metal stílusjegyein épül legfőbbképp, a tempós témák mellett jelentős szerepet kapnak a belassult, súlyos betétek is.
A Mommy Can, Go Out And Kill Tonight egy Misfits átirat, ami a témavezetés egyszerűségén, és az egész feelingen kihallatszik.
A Vicious Perversions azután visszatér a saját világképhez- morbid témák váltogatják egymást, súlyos a hangulat, a zene egyszerű alapokon nyugszik, mégis kilóg a sorból, ahogy egyre másra bukkannak fel a félig-meddig a stílusból eredően jól ismert szerkezeti elemek. Jól tolják a fiúk, az biztos.
Az utolsó szám az Echoes Of The Rotting címet viseli, és nem más egy jófajta zúzásnál. Mi más is lehetne?

ENGLISH VERSION:
This is the debut stuff of this two-year old American band having Brent Williams (drums), James O’Neal (bass), Russ Harin (guitar) and Steve Green (guitar, growls). They’re by no means beginner musicians, they’ve been all playing their instruments since several years, and they played with bands like Lust Of Decay, Grotesque Butchery, Apotheosys. Their music may be classified as brutal death metal, the subgenre of the more technical kind of that. Beside the classic death metal elements there are grindcore beats and odd and even beats on the record. There’s even a cover of Misfits, well, what to say… 🙂 On guest vocals, Jay Barnes is featured and the recordings were done at Sound Lab Studios.
The first track is Dead In Sixty Seconds. The music, operating with catchy themes, immediately attacks the listener with its raw brutality in which oldschool death metal, some grindcore and modern techniques blend. The vocals are gurgling as if we heard the darkest sounds of the end of the world. The precision, the well worked-out themes and quality of sound should also be mentioned here. It’s alright.
Punished Humanity continues that line also of course with powerful guitar sound, the murmuring crash of the bass and the drumming are fascinating. The music is so good (and it can be overanalyzed here) that this is why I cannot find the proper words now:)
The Birth Of Violence brings forth rather the grindcore line, of course not in a compromise-free way. Sick, fast riffs, cruel sound are its main characteristics spiced with a little technical break, and the great themes just flow one after the other. Total crushing. Raped Apart is also a killer song, the sound is tight and dynamic, the drive is simple, yet this scream and heavy music mix is outstanding. It’s really not easy to catch it, mainly due to the thrash metal inset reminiscent of Voivod… but I could also have mentioned Possessed. All death metal fans will like it, I’m quite sure.
Bastard Spawn also evokes that complicated but of course appropriately worked-out world as any of the previous tracks. The structure is well-worked, the themes are creative. Everything’s on its place and the sound is clear. And all details of the technical parts are distinguishable from each other, and it’s one very important thing in a recording.
Beyond Obliteration is a raw crushing with complicated themes and interesting passages. The infernal grunting vocals also fit perfectly the themes, this also turned out to be killing and brutal. They’ve really got it with this 3-minute long track with a lot of classic elements exploiting their impact.
Euphoric Flesh Consumption is mainly built on the stylistic marks of death metal, beside the faster themes the slower, heavier parts get more importance here. The band’s influence was surely of the early 90’s metal, which can also be felt, and their music grows out of different genres which then is served in a raw yet consumable manner by the guys.
The twisting themes, the absolutely precise bass play and the unique drumming make Open Wound Penetration an outstanding song. If I wrote only this of the album, I’d still be satisfied because I know all people willing to listen to it would feel this way too. So let that be enough that this track is raw crushing with a huge power of expression.
Mommy Can, Go Out And Kill Tonight is a Misfits cover song which can also be felt in the simplicity and the feeling of the track. Never a better cover:) The first part is rather punkish than death metallic but then the stone hard 1/16 beat comes and that’s it…
Vicious Perversions returns to their own world – morbid themes follow each other, the mood is heavy, the base is simple, still… it stands out of the row due to the appearance of structural elements mainly known form the genre. They’re good, that’s for sure.
The last song bears the title Echoes Of The Rotting and it’s nothing but a good crushing. What else would that be? There are no compromises here, you get the sick world. No fairytales, it’s brainwashing, nuclear silence, the beginning of rotting… or the end of it. Killer riffs, and good passages. Hard as the whole album.
It’s no hard to get acquainted with the record, so I can only say that get it! It’s really worth.
