Az AVSKY azon kevés számú norvég csapatok egyike, akik még tovább tudják vinni az egykori dicsőséget, ami sajnos mára már nem kevéssé megkopott. Hol vannak már a „Dark Medieval Times”, vagy mondjuk az „A Blaze in the Northern Sky” idői… A nagy csapatok már régen nem azt játsszák, amit anno elkezdtek, vagy már nem is léteznek.
Az AVSKY egyébként egy relatíve fiatal zenekar, két taggal a felállásban, és a „Scorn” a harmadik teljes nagylemezük, amivel kétségtelenül a ’90-es évekre jellemző zordon Black Metal szellemiséget igyekeznek tovább vinni. Zenéjüket ezért leginkább nem kevés mizantrópiával felvértezett, északi Black Metalként adhatjuk meg, ahol jól megírt, ötletes riffek uralják a dalokat, és az atmoszféra a hideg, norvég éjeket idézi. Néhol az első lemezes CARPATHIAN FOREST is beugrik hangulati hasonlóság szintjén egyébként, ami nem baj. Sőt. Vannak persze szélvészgyors megoldások is, gyűlölettel fröcsögő énekkel (pl. No Compassion, No Regrets), de ezek a nóták is jól ki vannak dolgozva, nem töltelék témákkal vannak felhígítva. A lassabb témáik egyébként jobban ütnek, kitűnő, sötét és morbid atmoszférát teremtenek, még a torzítatlan gitárral operáló, instrumentális The Beyond is sötét, északi melankóliát áraszt. A hosszú dalok egyébként meglehetősen opresszív karaktert kölcsönöznek az anyagnak, nincs kegyelem egy percre sem a Fekete Fém szorításából.
Erre fogékony lelkek mást ne is kívánjanak…

ENGLISH VERSION:
AVSKY is one of those few bands ho could carry on the old glory that, unfortunately, has rather vanished by now. Where are the times of „Dark Medieval Times”, or, say, „A Blaze in the Northern Sky”… The big old bands has been playing different music, or already ceased to exist.
AVSKY, anyway, is a relatively young band with two members in the line-up, and „Scorn” is their third full-length album with which they definitely would like to carry on the grim Black Metal spirit of the ’90s. So, accordingly, their music can be described as Northern Black Metal, with quite much misanthropy where the tracks are dominated by creative riffs, and the atmosphere evokes the Cold, Norwegian nights. Here and there they remind me CARPATHIAN FOREST from the times of their first album as far as the mood is concerned but it’s not a problem at all. There are of course fast as hell themes as well with hateful vocal parts (eg. No Compassion, No Regrets), but these songs are also well-composed, and aren’t full of second-rate solutions. Their slower themes anyway kick ass better, they create an excellent, dark and morbid aura, even The Beyond, a shorter instrumental operating with clean guitar, is reeking of Dark, Northern melancholy. The quite long tracks give a rather oppressive touch to the material, no mercy from the grasp of Black Metal for a minute.
Souls receptive to this wish nothing else than this…
