A death/grind fanatikusok nyilván örülni fognak ennek a floridai négyes debüt albumának. A banda idén lesz öt éves, eddig csak a háromszámos „Blastmasters” demot adták ki, még 2004-ben. Ez a demo szerepel bonus track-ként a mostani lemezen, illetve az új anyagon a tíz trackből, új felvételként hallható mindhárom. Az Aantar Lee Coates (dob), Jeff Parrish (gitár), Jesse Jolly (ének, basszusgitár) és R.J. Reinagle (gitár) felállás korrekt munkát adott ki a kezei közül. A szövegek a háború, az apokalipszis és a pusztítás körül forognak, a zene súlyos, tömény és határozott. Nem kifejezetten lesz kultikus anyag, de a banda jó úton jár.
Az első track a Catastrophic System Failure zúzós témákkal megáldott szélvihar. Pörgős, dinamikus játék, jó hangarány, minden hangszer technikázik egy kicsit. A szaggatott betét is nagyon játékos, jól eltalált riffekre épül. A szóló is tipikusan a stílus jegyeit követi, de hát másképp nem is lehetne.
A Shellfire And Tombstone egy középtempós őrlés, amiből kitépi magát egy gyorsabb grind téma, a gitárbetétek némelyike, pedig egy-az egyben true thrash metal.
A We The Treacherous újabb brutális grindcore nóta az albumon. Súlyos ritmusok váltják egymást, pontos, erőteljes játék hallható, nagyjából a „90-es évek feelingjének a jegyében.
Az Altricial Meta Genesis klasszikus darab, ha azt nézem, egy jól összerakott és eljátszott szám ez, de semmi több. Minden jól szól a hangszereseknél, az ének is fasza, de nem fedeztem fel különösen kiemelkedő megoldásokat, riffeket, de így is tökéletes.
Az Implemented Digital Control az új felvételen nyolc egész másodperccel hosszabb, no és jobban is szól a felvétel. Tempós zúzás, jó témák, feszes, határozott játék, kifejező ének, a szóló pedig a szokásos virtuóz módon szalad végig a hangokon.
A The Beheadings eredetije szintén demos dal. Az új hangzás súlyos, bár másképp, mint a demon. Szinte black metal feelingje van a számnak, a gyors tekerések, az ütős dobtémák hatalmas energiákat összpontosítanak, és egész fagyos a kép, amit bemutatnak.
A Putrid Future sötét hangjai, félelmetes légköre hatásosan csap át egy dallamos death metal szerkezetbe, a szóló jól felépített dallamvilága után pedig egy kis grind zúzda is előkerül. Figyelemreméltó, főképp a második, komplex szólórész miatt.
A La Fin Du Monde a harmadik új hangzást kapott demos nóta. Majd egy perccel rövidebb, mint a korábbi felvételen, megszólalása inkább a komplex és az old-school death metal keveredése, hangulata pedig abszolút a ’90-es évek bandáit (pl. Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) eleveníti meg.
A Shockwave Undertow ugyanezen a vonalon indul el, felélednek az ősi riffek, a megszólalás hatása hihetetlenül nyers és agresszív. Jól felépített szerkezet, sötét erő, halálpontos játék, egyedi íz.
A korong utolsó száma a címadó Twisted Metal, ami egy gyors pusztítás égen és földön. Komplex gitárfutamok színesítik a súlyos riffeket, a beteg ének még csak fokozza pokoli erejét a kegyetlen nótának.
A „Blasmasters” demo a tulajdonképpeni bonus, az első track ebből az Implemented Digital Control, a második a The Beheadings, majd utolsóként jön a La Fin Du Monde. Elég haloványan szólal meg, sem a hangszereléssel, sem az énekes résszel nincs baj, de olyan halk a felvétel, hogy az valami iszonyú. Így igazán nem nagyon élvezhető, persze meg lehet hallgatni, de nagy eltérések nincsenek a felvételeket illetően. Egy jól megszólaló lemez, a stílus szerelmesei nyugodtan tolják be a lejátszóba, aztán jöhet az elszabadulás!:)

Death/grind fans will surely be glad about the debut of the Florida-based four-piece. The band will be five years old this year and so far they”ve released a three-track demo titled „Blastmasters”, back in 2004. This demo is included here as a bonus and among the ten tracks of the album itself, three are re-recorded versions of the demo songs. The four-piece, consisting of Aantar Lee Coates (drums), Jeff Parrish (guitar), Jesse Jolly (vocals, bass) and R.J. Reinagle (guitar), have made an alright stuff. Their lyrics deal with war, apocalypse, and destruction, and the music”s heavy and determined. It won’t necessarily be a cult material but they’re on the right path.
First track is Catastrophic System Failure with crushing themes like a whirlwind. The play is dynamic, the sound is balanced, all instruments bring a bit technical parts. The staccato inset is also based on very playful, good riffs. The solo follow the characteristics of the genre but it couldn’t be any different.
Shellfire And Tombstone is mid-paced grinding, from which a fast grind theme rips itself off, and some of the guitar themes are totally true thrash metal.
We The Treacherous is again a brutal grindcore track on the album. Heavy rhythms alternate here, the playing is precise and powerful, it”s in the vein of the 90’s.
Altricial Meta Genesis is a classic piece, from one aspect it”s only a well-built and -played song and nothing more. The themes sound alright, the vocals are cool too, but I haven”t found outstanding ideas, riffs yet it’s perfect.
Implemented Digital Control in its new version is 8 seconds longer and the recording sounds better. It’s faster crushing with good themes, tight, determined playing, expressive vocals and the solo is of the usual virtuoso-type.
The original of The Beheadings is also a demo song. The new sound is also heavy though in a different way as on the demo. The track has an almost black metal feeling, the fast grindings, the killer drum patterns focus vast energies, and the picture they depict here is quite freezing.
The dark sounds, horrific aura of Putrid Future become a melodic death metal structure in an effective way, and after the well-built melodies of the solo comes a bit grinding. It’s noteworthy by all means mainly due to the second, complex solo part.
La Fin Du Monde is the third track that got re-recorded from the demo. It”s almost a minute shorter than the original, the sound is the mix of complex and oldschool death metal, and its mood evokes the bands of the 90’s (eg. Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal).
Shockwave Undertow starts off also on that line with ancient riffs and sound is extremely raw and aggressive. The structure is well-built, the power is dark, the play is deadly precise and the taste is unique.
The last song of the disc is Twisted Metal which is a fast destruction on earth and heaven. Complex guitar themes colour the heavy riffs and the infernal power of the cruel tune is increased by the sick vocals.
„Blasmasters” demo is the actual bonus with three songs: Implemented Digital Control, The Beheadings and La Fin Du Monde. The sound is rather weak here no problem with the vocals and instruments but the volume level is so low that it’s incredible. So it’s not too enjoyable. Okay it’s listenable but there are no major differences. A well-produced stuff, lovers of the style put it on the stereo and let all hell break loose:)
