A Callejon egy öttagú német zenekar, korábban jelent már meg kislemezük és albumuk is, amihez sajnos nem volt szerencsém. Mindenesetre a novemberben megjelenő „Zombie Action Hauptquartier” című lemez többszöri hallgatása után meggyőző teljesítményükkel megfogtak.
Mivel Nuclear Blast kiadványról van szó, ezért kíváncsian, kezdtem el hallgatni, hogy miért is szerződtette le a bandát a német kiadó. Már az első dalnál hallottam, hogy ismét egy új reménységre bukkant az NB. Először egy kicsit a német szöveg volt szokatlan, de idővel hamar meg lehet szokni. A zene kifejezetten energikus és letarol mindent. A brutalitás mellett rengetek fülbemászó dallamot pakoltak a zenébe. Könnyen dúdolhatóvá is válik egy idő után. Bastian Sobtzick énekes teljesítménye is meggyőzött. A dalokban egyaránt élvezhető a durvább üvöltés és a dallamosabb, populárisabb hang. Mellesleg az albumon hallhatunk lassú dalt is, a „Phantomschmerz”-et. Ebben a dalban rengeteg érzés lakozik, szóval a zenének nem minden perce a brutalitásról és a váltásokról szól.
A kiadó egyfajta zombiecore-nak kategorizálta a zenét, amiben van némi igazság. Tulajdonképpen, egy dallamosabb thrash metal zenéről beszélhetünk, amit kissé a német szöveg és helyenként a furcsa megoldások tesznek izgalmassá. Mivel nem kis kiadóról van szó, és sokan tudják, milyen is egy NB kiadvány, ebből lehet tudni, hogy a hangzásra nem lehet panasz. A gitár kifejezetten előtérbe van helyezve, ami a dallamosabb refréneknél egy kicsit hátrébb szorul. A zenei megoldások néhol hasonlítanak a jól megszokott metalcore bandákéra. Az utolsó „Porn From Spain” dalban egy híres német hip-hop énekes, K.I.Z. hangját is hallhatjuk, ami kellőképpen felrázza a dalt. Ez a rappelős szöveg szerintem nem mindenkinek fog bejönni, de nem nevezném rossz ötletnek.
Kíváncsian várom a lemez megjelenését, hogy mekkora sikere lesz ennek a zombi metalnak. Mindenesetre nekem tetszik ez a lemez, és figyelemmel fogom kísérni a további munkásságaikat.

Callejon is a five-member German band, they had a single and an album before, but unfortunately I haven’t heard them. Anyway, after listening the new single – called Zombie Action Hauptquartier – many times, that is coming up in November I can tell that I appriciate their performance.
Speaking about a Nuclear Blast – product, I started to listen the songs in a curious mood wondering about why the German Label signed up this band. While listening the first track I realized that NB found a new talented band. For the first time the music is a bit unusual because of the German language, but one can get used to it easily. Anyway it is forceful and destroys everything. The guys put some melodic themes into the songs besides brutality, after a while, it gets croonable. The voice of Bastian Sobtzick sounds amazing for me; there are also rude roars and more popular tunes. By the way, we can find a slower song in the album too, this is Phantomschmerz. There are lots of emotions in it, so the music is not just about the brutality and changes.
Tha label categorized this music as „zombiecore”. Actually, it is melodic thrash metal and the German language or the interesting changes make it exciting even more. Everybody knows what an NB edition is like, so we can be sure about the sound. Guitar is specifically emphasized, and during the melodic choruses it is taken into the background. Musical solutions here are often similar to metalcore. In the last track – Porn From Spain – a famous hip-hop singer, K.I.Z. appears that shakes the music up a bit. In my opinion, this rap-thing will not match everybody’s taste, but I cannot describe it as a bad idea.
I’m curious about the coming-up of the record and how big succes this zombie-metal will win. By the way, I like this album, and I will listen them further on.
