A lemez címe már meglehetősen sokat mondó. Nem lő mellé tehát az, aki súlyos, sötétebb hangulatú Doomos muzsikát remél a körülbelül háromnegyed órás anyagtól, amely az első az OF HUMAN BONDAGE (számomra eddig ismeretlen) amerikai zenekar több tagját is magába foglalja.
Túlságosan egyébként nem könnyű írni az ilyesféle zenékről, egyrészt hangulatfüggő, másfelől pont a hangulat, az, aminek nagy szerepe van. Ez utóbbi meglehetősen sivár, feneketlen mélységekbe vesző, illetve próbáló, több-kevesebb sikerrel. Nem mondom, hogy minden egyes téma, ötlet, tökéletesen üt, de java részt azért sikerül elkapniuk a feelinget. A száraz, morózus hangzás, és a kissé torzított, extrémebb jellegű ének is feltehetően ezt a célt szolgálják. A dalok hosszúsága, gondolom, nem meglepő módon, 3 és több mint 12 perc között mozog, a tempó pedig természetesen soha sem lépi át a gyorsaság küszöbét, inkább az ólom ütemek dominálnak. A néhol alkalmazott keserű dallamok is jót tesznek az anyagnak mindenképpen, noha ezek sem igazán rögzülnek a fejben, a lemez összhatása inkább egy súlyos fémlenyomat az elmében. Számomra azért mondjuk egy korai SHAPE OF DESPAIR szintjét nem érik még el, noha azért a két banda nem 100%-osan ugyanazt az utat járja a Doom vonalán…
Mindenestre nem elveszett próbálkozás a lemez, ez tény. Hangulat kell hozzá, és működhet!

ENGLISH VERSION:
The title of the record is already a telling one. So, one will not too wrong expecting some kind of heavy, darker Doomy music from this 45 minute-long material which is the first of this American act having more members from (to me unknown) OF HUMAN BONDAGE.
Anyway, it’s not too easy to describe this kind of music. On one hand, it depends on one’s mood, on the other, however, it’s exactly the mood what is important here. This latter is rather bleak, going to the fathomless depths, or trying to, with more or less success. I’m not saying that every single theme, idea of theirs truly kicks ass but most of the time they manage to get the feeling. The dry, morose production and slightly distorted vocals also serve this purpose presumably. The length of the tracks, I think that’s no surprise, ranges from 3 minutes to more than 12 mins, and the tempo of course never exceeds the threshold of fastness but rather lead tempos dominate. The bitter melodies applied here and there do also good to the stuff although these do not really stick in the listener’s mind but the impact of the record is like a heavy metal imprint in the mind. To me, it’s not necessarily better then early SHAPE OF DESPAIR even if they are walking not entirely the same path of doom…
Nevertheless, it’s a not a futile try, that’s a fact. If you’re in the mood, it can work.
