Az Ascendance records kiadó gondozásában jelent meg az év egyik, legkülönlegesebb és legformabontóbb korongja, melyet nem más,mint a svéd Diablo Swing Orchestra könyvelhet el magának. Nehéz belekezdeni ennek a korongnak az elemzésébe, mert annyira sokrétű és különleges.
Képzeljük el, hogy a 20-as évek thomson-os Amerikáját és a Grease-t összekeverjük egy kis operával, valamint adagolunk hozzá extrém metált és egy csipetnyi rockabilly-t: na körülbelül ez a Sing Along Songs for the Damned and Delirious!
Az biztos, hogy ez a zenekar olyan profi és szemtelen zenészekből áll, akik nem szégyellnek semmit sem kipróbálni, hogy színesebbé, egyénibbé tegyék a produkciójukat.
A csellista állandó része a zenekarnak, de sokszor felbukkannak réz-és fafúvós hangszerek és kongák is. A férfi ének az opera stílus és a hörgés közti széles skálán mozog, a másik vokál azonban gyönyörű, képzett operaénekesnőre vall.
Tulajdonképpen minden szám egyedi zenei világgal rendelkezik. Az „A Tapdancers Dilemma” teljesen olyan, mint A Maszk című film Swing-es betétdalai. Ebben a dalban külön tetszenek a slap-elős basszustémák. A „Vodka Inferno” egy kalóz kocsmadalnak indul, de a végére Operába megy át, a „Lucy Fears The Morning Star” pedig egy Sepultura-s témából kiinduló latinos lüktetésű szerzemény. Amin a legjobbat derültem, az a „Memoirs of a Roadkill” volt: az elején nagyon ismerősek voltak a kezdő akkordok aztán rájöttem, hogy a Travolta és Olivia Newton John által elnyekergett „You are the one that i want” című borzalom dallamát hallom a Grease-ből.
Ez az anyag egy érdekes, szemtelenül kísérletezős, de mindenekfelett vidám és pörgős lemez. Ajánlom mindenkinek, aki nem rémül meg egy ilyen agyament zenei fúziótól.

ENGLISH VERSION:
One of the most special and avantgarde albums of this year has just came out by Ascendance Records. It’s the new album of the Swedish band, Diablo Swing Orchestra. It’s hard to begin the evaluation of this album, because it’s that various and special.
Imagine the Thomson’s American Decade of the 20s and Grease, mixed with some opera, peppered by some extreme metal and a bit of rockabilly: well, it’s more or less Sing Along Songs for The Damned and Delirious.
The musicians are professional and cheeky, that’s sure. They don’t mind trying everything to make their music more various and unique.
The cello player is a constant member of the band, but sometimes we can hear brass instruments, woodwind instruments and congas as well. The male vocals ranges on the wide scale between opera style and the growl, the other (female) vocals is the voice of a beautiful, skilled opera singer.
Actually each song has its own musical world. „Tapdancers Dilemma” is completely like the Swing-like feature songs of the film „The Mask”. I especially like the slapping bass themes there. „Vodka Inferno” starts like a tavern song of the pirates, but it changes to opera through its end. „Lucy Fears The Morning Star” is a song with a latinistic vibration, starting from a Sepultura-like theme. I found it very funny when I heard the intro of „Memoirs of a Roadkill”. I found the beginning very familiar. Later I realized that it’s the remake of the awful „You are the one that I want” from Travolta and Olivia Newton-John…
This stuff is very interesting. It’s experimenting many genres in a very cheeky way, but above all, it’s a very playful and whirling album. I can recommend it to anybody who is not afraid of such a weird musical fusion.
