Franciaország sötét mélyéből érkezett hozzánk a „Dominant Obscurity” nevezetű „black metal” formáció. Előéletük teljes homályba vész hisz még az alakulásukról sincs pontos időpont. A lényeg viszont, hogy most jelentkeznek első hangzóanyaggal méghozzá egy demó formájában. A francia ötös által játszott muzsika az atmoszférikusabb black metal vonalhoz áll közel. Zenéjükben megvan az a fajta sötét hangulat, mely a hasonló stílusban mozgó csapatokra általában jellemző.
Ennek szellemében íródott a demón szerepelő 3 nóta is. Sőt már az intró is horrorisztikus hangulattal rendelkezik. Aztán következik a kiadvány legjobb nótája a tökéletes hangulattal és zenei érzékkel megírt „Fall Of The Unlucid”. A zene teljes mértékben Romain és Fred riffjeire épül, melyek, ha kell dallamosan harmonikusan szólalnak meg, de nem feledkeznek meg a durvább megoldásokról sem. A dal közepére még egy lassan hömpölygő rész is került, mely igazi sötét hangulatot áraszt. Itt még enyhe doom metal hangulat is érezhető.
A második „Profiles For Delusion” egy kicsit gyorsabb szerzemény, de a riffek hangulata itt is tökéletes egységet képez a zene egészével. Érdemes is figyelni a gitárok játékát, ugyanis nem valami sallangos földalatti reszelésről van szó, hanem igényesen megkomponált játékról. Ennek szellemében fogant a demót záró majd tíz perces „Unleashing The Whispers” is. Itt igazából a dal vége a legemlékezetesebb. Szomorkás hangulata magával ragadja a hallgatót. Persze lehet ez már sokaknak átlépi majd a black metal kifejezést, de szerintem nagyon is illik a Dominant Obscurity világához.
A kijelölt irány nekem tetszik, és jó érzékkel játsszák ezt a fajta muzsikát a francia srácok. Ha a nagylemez is hasonló színvonalú lesz, akkor nem lesz probléma. Ha pedig a black metal atmoszférikusabb oldalát szereted, azt ajánlom, járj utána a kiadványnak.

ENGLISH VERSION:
From the dark depths of France comes Dominant Obscurity, a black metal formation. We have very little info on their activities so far, not even the date of their formation is known. But the point is that this is their first material, in the form of a demo. The music of the French five-piece is atmospheric black metal. The music has that dark atmosphere the bands of the said genre usually also have.
The three tracks of the demo have also been written in that spirit. Moreover, even the intro has a horrifying aura to it. Then comes the best song of the release titled Fall Of The Unlucid composed with perfect atmosphere and musical sense. The music is completely built on the riffs of Romain and Fred, if needed, they sound melodic and harmonious but they do not forget about rawer ideas either. There”s even a slower passage in the middle of the track, reeking a truly dark mood. Here, we can even feel a sort of doom metal atmosphere.
The second one, Profiles For Delusion is a bit faster composition, but the mood of the riffs also creates a perfect unity with the music itself. It’s worth checking the playing of the guitars since it’s not some crappy underground rasping but a demanding play. The closing, almost ten minute long Unleashing The Whispers has also been composed in that spirit. Here mainly the ending of the song is very memorable. It carries away the listener with its sad mood. Of course, to some it might not be black metal but I think it does fit the world of Dominant Obscurity.
I like the direction they marked, and the French guys play this music with class. If the full-length is also like this, there won’t be any problem. And if you happen to like the more atmospheric branch of black metal, it’s recommended for you.
