Az elég furcsa nevű F5 egy amerikai power/tharsh metalt játszó bandát takar. A zenekar soraiban találhatunk két volt Megadeth tagot is David Ellefson-t (basszus) és Jimmy DeGrasso-t. Ez már valamit el is árul(hatna) a zene minőségét illetően (dob), de nem mennyünk ennyire előre. Ez a mostani „The Reckoning” már egy szélesebb körben terjesztett cucc, ami a második lemezük, melynek elődje még 2005-ben jött ki. Az tény, hogy ezek az arcok nem most kezdték a muzsikálást és mindenki tökéletesen teljesít a hangszerén, de ami a lemez savát, borsát adja az nem más mint az összes dalban fellelhető hatalmas riffek és harmóniák, hogy a szólókról már ne is beszéljek. Szinte a gitárok elviszik a hátán a muzsikát olyan elemi erővel és érzékkel szólalnak meg. Mindenképp le a kalappal John Davis és Steve Conley előtt. Játékuk példaértékű kell, hogy legyen, minden hasonszőrű zenét játszó zenekar számára. Persze ez mit sem érne a már említett tagokból álló ritmusszekció nélkül.
Ami viszont számomra szomorú tény az-az énekes Dale Steele nem mindig maradéktalanul meggyőző éneke. Nincs persze nagy baj vele, de néhol még több emlékezetes téma elfért volna a torkában. Szerintem többet is kilehetett volna hozni ebből, hisz a dalok szerkezetével felépítésével nincs baj. Erre jó példa a „Wake Up” melynek dallami enyhén szólva fárasztóak, pedig maga a nóta jó lenne. Persze vannak kiváló dalok is a lemezen, mint például a címadó vagy a „Rank And File”, de említhetném a meggyőző dallamokkal operáló „Control”-t vagy a lemezt záró „Final Hour”.
A borítóval viszont nem igazán tudok mit kezdeni, de ez csak egy másodlagos dolog. Mindent összevetve nem tudom merjem-e „Megadeth” fanoknak ajánlani a lemezt, de aki a stílus híve és egy minden ízében tradicionális bandát akar hallani az nem fog csalódni az F5 lemezében. Nálam viszont a már említett dolgok miatt most ennyit ér a „The Reckoning”.

ENGLISH VERSION:
This strange name covers an American power/thrash act. The band has two ex-MEGADETH members in the line-up, namely Dave Ellefson (bass) and Jimmy DeGrasso. This (may) say a thing or two about the quality of the music (drums), but let’s not go this far yet. This stuff titled „The Reckoning” is their second album and is available on a wider scale while their debut dates back to 2005. That’s a fact that these guys did not start playing their instruments yesterday and indeed they have excellent skills but what really give the extra touch to the whole are the great riffs and harmonies found in all tracks not to mention the solos. The guitars have such power and sound so great that almost take the whole thing on their own. Credits to the play of John Davis and Steve Conley, it should stand as an example for all bands out there playing in this style. Of course it would not be complete without the rhythm section consisting of the mentioned musicians.
Which, however, is a sad fact to me is the vocals of singer Dale Steele which is not that convincing all the time. No big problem with it of course but some more memorable parts could have been good. I think there’s much more potential in the tracks because their structures are good. A fine example of this is „Wake up” the melodies of which are a bit tiring but the song itself is good. Of course there are excellent tracks on the album like the title track or „Rank and File” but I could also mention „Control” with its convincing melodies, or the closing „Final Hour”.
The cover, however, is strange to me but it’s only a secondary thing. All in all, I do not know whether to recommend this stuff to MEGADETH fans or not but who is a fan of the style and would like to hear a band that is 100% traditional won’t be disappointed in it. To me, due to the mentioned things this album worth the following:
