A Folkearth egy különleges zenei formáció. A lényege az, hogy a világ különböző pontjain élő folk zenészeket tömörítse egy csoportba. Így nem árulok el nagy titkot, hogy egy nagyon egyedi hangvételű produktum születik ebből a különleges kooperációból. Az ötlet kezdete még 2004-re tehető, amikor is megszületett az első lemez „A Nordic Poem”címmel. A most tárgyalt mű „Drakkars in the Mist”, már a harmadik korong, de 2008-ban is számos kiadvánnyal örvendeztették meg az erre fogékony zenehallgatót. Hogy egy kicsit számokban bővebben is kifejtsem a dolgokat összesen 11 országból 30 zenész működött közre ezen lemez bő 67 percben, melyen összesen 17 nóta osztozik. Abba már persze belegondolni sem egyszerű, hogy hányfajta hangszer hallható a lemezen, de az mindenképp elmondható, hogy végighallgatva egy hatalmas zenei utazáson vehetünk részt.
Megtalálhatók itt a tipikusnak is nevezhető viking metal dalokon kívül másfajta stílusú nóták is melyek, ha úgy tetszik sima akusztikus gitárokon előadott természet közeli dalokban öltenek testet. Az egyensúlyt persze mindenhol próbálták fenntartani, így semmiképp sem fullad unalomba a korong. Persze erre nem is lenne lehetőség, hisz a számos hangszeren kívül rengetegféle énekhang is felbukkan a korongon. A szépen csengő női hangok mellett számos durvább vokál is helyet kap, hogy a kórusos együtténeklős dallamokról ne is beszéljünk. Nótákat teljesen felesleges lenne kiemelnem, mert mindegyiknek megvan a maga szépsége és különleges atmoszférája. Szinte mindegyikből árad a természet hatalmasságának és tisztaságának a tisztelése.
A szép az egészben, hogy mégis sikerült ezt a nagy mindenséget egy kerek egésszé alkotni, ami szerintem önmagában sem kis feladat. A hangzás teljesen rendbe van. A borító, pedig szemet gyönyörködtetően csodálatos, ami tökéletes „csomagolást” és vizuális élményt nyújt eme korongnak.
Nem mondom, hogy mindegyik dal hibátlan, de összességében egy nagyon kellemes élményt nyújt a „Drakkars in the Mist” végighallgatása. Aki a stílus kedvelője és nem elégszik meg a szokványos megoldásokkal, hanem egy különleges zenét akar hallani annak kötelező megismerkednie a „Folkearth”-al. Én meg nagyon örvendetesnek és tiszteletreméltónak találom egy ilyen nagyszabású mű(vek) és közösség létrejöttét.

ENGLISH VERSION:
FOLKEARTH is a special musical formation. The essence of it is that it gathers folk musicians from all over the world. So it’s no secret that the end result of this cooperation is also something special. The idea dates back to 2004 anyway when the first album was born entitled „A Nordic Poem”. „Drakkars in the Mist” reviewed here is already their third album, but in 2008 they brought out some stuffs for the fans. To speak about numbers a bit they have 30 musicians from 11 different countries playing on this record, with a playing time of 67 minutes and featuring 17 tracks. To think of the different instruments used is an even harder task but the musical is journey is indeed something really great.
Beside the typical Viking metal songs we can also find different kind of tracks, say, performed on pure acoustic guitars close to nature in their feeling. Of course they wanted to have a proper balance between these so the result does not turn into a bore. It could not be possible anyway since there are so many different instruments and vocals used that it’s no way for that. Beside the nice female vox we can also get some raw vocals not to mention the mandatory-to-sing-along-with-typed chorus parts. It’s completely unnecessary to pick out tracks each and every one has its own charm and special atmosphere. All of them emanate the honour of nature”s greatness and purity.
What is really nice that they’ve managed to get together this as a whole, compact enough, which, in itself, is a hard task I think. The sound is also perfectly okay. And the cover is absolutely beautiful, so we cannot complain about the packaging either.
I’m not saying all tracks are flawless but all in all „Drakkars in the Mist” is a real pleasant stuff to listen to. Who likes this genre and is longing for something special it’s worth checking FOLKEARTH out. And I find it great and honourable that such great works and communities are born.
