A GOREAPHOBIA az amerikai Death Metal mozgalom egy méltán elismert alakja, akik ugyan elég kevés anyagot tettek le akkoriban (a ’90-es évek elejéről van szó) az asztalra, hiszen mindössze egyetlen demo és egy EP – Morbidious Pathology és Omen of Masochism – volt akkori mérlegük. Míg pálya-/honfitársaik sorra adták ki a lemezezek, a Chris Gamble basszusgitár/ének vezette alakulatnak erre egészen 2009-ig kellett várnia. A Mortal Repulsion egy jól sikerült lemez lett egyébként.
A 2011-es évben pedig érkezett az Apocalyptic Necromancy, amiről szintén azt lehet elmondani, hogy egy erős, minőségi munka. Egy mérgező elegyet sikerült kreálniuk, amiben a sötétség is szerepet játszik (halld a nyitó nóta megfelelő részeit a vége felé…), de nem feledkeznek meg a a Metalos eszközökkel elővezetett jól megírt nótákról sem. A dalszerkezetek között a hagyományos Metal építkezési metódusait figyelhetjük meg, ám mégsem retro dolog lett a végeredmény, ennek egyik legjobb példája a hármas The Attractor. A féktelen sebesség egyébkánt nem jellemző a lemezre, inkább azt mondanám a közepes vagy közepesen gyors tempók dominálnak, így a riffek is jobbak megjegyezhetőek, hogy ne mondjam, fogósabbak. Ám nem kell félni, ez még mindig Death Metal. És nem deathcore vagy hasonló nonszensz. Ha valami negatívumot kellene említenem, akkor az a címmel kapcsolatos lenne. Valahogy az apokaliptikus jelzőt nem tudom egyértelműen a lemezhez illeszteni, sötét, de nem feltétlenül apokaliptikus. Ahhoz valami még fenyegetőbb, zordabb világot képzelnék el.
Ám mindezek ellenére is egy teljesen jó lemeznek tartom a GOREAPHOBIA 2011-es dalgyűjteményét.

GOREAPHOBIA is a justifiably acknowledged figure in the US Death Metal scene, even though they have put out only few stuffs back then (we are speaking about the early ’90s here), to be exact a demo and an EP – Morbidious Pathology and Omen of Masochism, respectively. While their genre- and country mates were releasing full-lengths one after the other, the band lead by bassist/vocalist Chris Gamble had to wait until 2009 to have the first full album out. Anyway, Mortal Repulsion was a good record.
Apocalyptic Necromancy arrived in 2011 which is also a strong and quality work. They have managed to prepare a poisonous mixture, in which darkness also plays a role (just listen to the respective parts in the opener towards the end of the track…), but they do not forget about well-written songs by Metallic means. Among the song structures we can notice the building methods of traditional Metal but the result is not a retro stuff, the best example of which is the third number, The Attractor. The boundless speed is not a characteristic of the record, instead they operate with more mid-paced or a bit faster pace the result of which are more memorable songs, that are almost catchy. But do not be afraid, it’s still Death Metal and not deathcore or such nonsense. If I had to point out on a negative aspect then it would be related to the title of the album. Somehow, I cannot put the apocalyptic term to the album, I imagine a grimmer world to that. It’s dark, for sure, but not necessarily apocalyptic.
Despite of that, this new set of songs by GOREAPHOBIA is a good stuff by all means.
