Európa közepén élve Kolumbia számunkra egészen egzotikusan hathat – főként ezekben a hideg, havas napokban (üdv Észak-Szlovákiából). A legutóbbi véleményezendő anyagot viszont éppen innen kaptam – az Ignis Haereticum nevű banda Autocognition of Light címmel megjelent, sorban második albumát. A csapat szavaival élve a hat szám egy nagy egységet alkot, és az önismeret útját hordozza magában. Lássuk az eredményt.
Az egész a Glorious Wounds című számmal indul. Rövid, misztikus kezdet színtiszta black metál folytatással. Itt pedig egyet kell értenem a bandával – ez nem egy jól bejáratott séma szerinti, klasszikus black metál szám – blast beatek, sikolyok, sötét hangulat stb. Nem olyan, mint millió másik bandáé. Az Ignis Haereticum zenéje saját hitvallásukon alapszik – kihallani az albumból, hogy üzenetet hordoz. Az, hogy ezt befogadod vagy sem, csak rajtad múlik. Persze itt is megjelenik a gyors dobjáték, sikolyok, dallamosan nagyszerű riffek (itt külön ki kell emelnem a kiváló hangzást), és persze a mindent ellepő sötétség. Kihallani az európai black metál behatást is, de mindez újszerű köntösben. A zene nem áll le, a következő szám pedig a 3. rajtszámú Mors Mystica, tele tempó- és hangulatváltásokkal, jó adag sötétséggel, durvasággal… felkészít minket az Ekstasis ütemeire, mely négy perces játékidejét drámai, misztikus hangulatban kezdi, majd doom/psychedelic/black robbanással folytatódik. Számomra ez az abszolút kedvenc. A következő két szám a black metál alapokhoz tér vissza.
Az Autocognition of Light hat dalt sorakoztat fel (5-8 perces játékidő között). Az album címe sok értelemben is nagyszerű, hiszen az anyag megmutatja, hogyan hallgassunk, és hogyan ismerjük fel (=cognition) az üzenetet, a fényt (=light) a csapat hitvallásában és filozófiájában. A zene alkotása közben is ez lehetett a fő cél – semmi szokatlan, a black metál dalok mindig erősen hangulatra hatnak, ezt az elemét viszont még magasabb szintre emelik. Az album remek hangszerelésével együtt tökéletes eredményt kapunk. Black metál a kommersz vagy túlzottan színpadias elemek nélkül. Ütős, tömör lemez – a banda nem hazudott. Az Autocognition of Light nem csak egy hatszámos album, hanem annál sokkal több – egy hitvallás.
Ha filozofikus töltetű, nagyszerű metálra vágysz, az Autocognition of Light megér egy próbát. Egy újabb tökéletes album Dél-Amerikából.
Colombia is a quite exotic country for us, people living in the middle of Europe. Mainly in these cold days full of snow (greetings from the north of Slovakia). And the last CD for review came to me exactly from Colombia – Autocognition of Light, recorded by Ignis Haereticum, which is the second full length album of the band. According to the announcement of the group, it was written as a whole piece, and should contain knowledge into individual search. So, what is the result?
It all starts with the song called Glorious Wounds. A short, mystic beginning followed with a true black metal ride. And I have to agree with the band, this is not just classical black metal song by a pre-defined scheme- blast beats, screams, dark atmosphere etc. They are not like millions of other groups. Ignis Haereticum creates music according to their belief- you can hear that the record has a message. And taking it or not only depends on you. Of course, we can also hear fast drums, screaming, many great riffs without significant melodicism (here I have to admire the great sound), and lots of darkness. There is also a measure of European black metal influence, but in a new, original robe. The music continues, and the next song that I should mention is song no. 3 Mors Mystica, which is full of changes of tempo, moods, amount of darkness, harshness…. and it also prepares us for the Ekstasis, starting with dramatic, mystic beginning (lasting for 4 minutes) and continuing with doom/psychedelic/black detonation. For me, it is the best tune on the album, no doubt about it. The other two songs return to the black metal foundation.
Autocognition of Light plays 6 songs (lasting something between 5 – 8 minutes). The title of the album is in many ways great, because this music can show people how to listen, and also accept (cognition) the message (light) of the manifesto and philosophy of the band. The music is also made with this in mind- it is nothing unusual, that black metal songs are full of atmosphere, but this element is put to a higher level. And together with great instrumental side of the album and super sound it leads to a perfect result. Black metal without commercial or stagey elements. Strong compact Cd- the words of the band were true. Autocognition of Light is not just a disc containing 6 songs, it is also something more- a manifesto.
If you are looking for some great metal with philosophy behind it, you should give Autocognition of Light a go. Another perfect album from South America.
