Eleinte több helyütt felfigyeltem Asmodeus Draco Dux ötletesen variáns cinjátékaira, ami a keverés során kellő hangsúlyt is kapott, így zavartalanul gyönyörködhetünk csörömpölésében.

A folytatásban azonban valamelyest feljebb ível a színvonal, mivel a Melody Of Pain már hordoz magában némi változatosságot.

A magam részéről tucat kategória.

ENGLISH VERSION:

Whenever charcoal is served, I”m always eagerly studying the review whether with what sort of additives could the new victim forge its performance to value. Well, Italian Infernal Angels carried the bloodstained flag of melodic black metal on their backs, under the flag of which there was one full-length brought to life, three years ago. They”ve felt the time is right now to unleash their thoughts of faith and death in this form of self-expression. The fact that the band will be disliked by the true medium is more than sure even if the label tries to show the stuff as very evil. The problem is that this is confuted by those several melodic themes.

Because of those there are quite many, and, to come up with a well-known example, I”d say, we could hear similar things at Belphegor, thought I must stress this is only true for some parts of the guitar themes. Regarding creativity, unfortunately, I cannot cite here such big names, since mainly we can hear a lot of clichés. To tell the truth, it was painful to see that they are sticking this much to the genre since, based on some ideas, I could say that it would worth to move forward from satanic stuff to a more open-minded extreme direction. But, finishing my train of thought, I stepped on the path of the band, which, despite all counter-arguments, lead me to pleasant places but it happened also that I was eagerly waiting for the end of our journey. In fact, after more trips, the situation is the same, and I was only able to come up with a pale positive experience regarding the material.

At first, I noticed the creative cymbal play of Asmodeus Draco Dux which, during the mixing, got the necessary emphasis so we can hear it well. The other side of the coin is that certain drum themes turned out to be rather one-dimensional. I could easily name five or four songs where there are exactly the same rhythms and the tracks can be distinguished from each other due to the guitars only. All this turns the record soon to boredom, and, besides, those few outstanding parts become also nothing in the heart of hell. The duality of sweet and bitter is lurking in the record: which, in one minute, is a good idea, is a dull thing in the other. I could increase the reasons based on pros and contras, so it”s hard to decide what the true face of the band is.

I would like to believe that it is not the opening that reflects reality since Prologus Odii is not more than a pale, grey opening. The standard, fortunately, is getting higher next because Melody Of Pain carries some variation in it. The acoustic break in the middle of the track is pleasant, as well as the short clean vocal part isn”t irritating either but a pleasant surprise. And yes, at last a black metal band where all this is managed to embed in metal, and it isn”t necessary to bury the band into deepest pit of the darkest cemetery with a resigned smile – in this aspect, at least. But, to confute this, I”d tell about my newest problem to my readers, namely the midtempos. Of course, the lack of speed in itself wouldn”t be a problem, but as our infernal angels haven”t even touched by the wind of mood and progressivity, at least they could have provided some dole with thick blastbeats. Returning to the worthy moments of the record, A New Era Is Coming with a promising opening but later weakening nature, Sangue and Epilogus Humanitatis with horrific speech and noises can be put among the better tunes. By the way, it can easily remind you of Abgott”s Church Of Necrophilism.

I”ve listened to the CD several times but the only word I can still come up with Midwinter Blood is duality. It”s an okay production, in traces respectful stand, but it”s extremely little nowadays. To melody-loving antichrists, I”d rather recommend Siebenbürgen, or the recent Sworn material, and regarding the child of Infernal Angels, one should decide him/herself. As for me, this is average category.
