Weboldalukon hallgattam bele a most megjelent lemezükbe.

ENGLISH VERSION:

It’s never the best thing to be a tribute band. It’s to face with the hopeless duty to give back the unique sound and all that we are used to, just like the original one. Well so it’s almost impossible, at least I’ve not yet heard about something like this. On the other hand, they can repair the original one on a higher level, which is different but perhaps it can be enjoyed better, for example Hall Of The Mountain King by Savatage, or the ABBA cover album of the „echt” metal bands (though ABBA isn’t the original path). The problem is, that it’s not a tribute anymore but a cover, and „tribute” must be like the original one, if there’s any difference between the two, there are more opportunities in covers; more can be put into that, more can be taken from it, because this is how we are like and that’s it.

Iron Maidnem is the most known Iron Maiden tribute, yet one of the many in Hungary too. I’ve listenned their new album on their website. And I’ve gladly recognised a keyboardist among the members. Listenning to the first song of 10 Wasted Years, I could the great result of that, I think it’s a fantastic thing that they solved it like that instead of a third guitar.

So this tribute album is just like as it should be, they did the best that was possible. By listenning to the recording, I couldn’t imagine Dickinson himself, singer Zoli Kiss (one of the best Hungarian hard rock/metal singer) has a smoother, less raw voice, also less powerful, nothing worse just different. The recording is also less powerful compared to the original one, but perhaps it’s just the mixing. Compared to the (terrible) Hungarian circumstances, the sound is perfect, but it can be heard on the guitars and the final mixing that Maiden has definietly more money for this. It was only Nico McBrian who I could imagine a little while listenning to certain parts of the songs.

I have nothing against the drum and keyboard sounds, yet I must admit that I can hear the difference compared to the original one, and the aim was to make it like the same exactly. The other thing I liked was the vocals. If I had to name the perfect parts of the album, that’d be the keyboard-drums-vocals trio. The question is, how they wanted to „fool” the listenner. Does it worth to make any material exactly like the original one, though everyone would prefer to listen to the original album? Does it worth to work on the impossible, even if mistakes can’t be avoided, or is it the sign of uniqueness, or is it the less of money? I can’t find the answer to the latter ones and in truth, I prefer listenning to covers with no aim to copy the original. Anyway, it’s still nice to see and listen to it like that on stage, even if I’ll definietly not listen to an album like this for a longer time. It’s still good as a reference.
