Jorn Lande munkássága meglehetősen szerteágazó. A Whitesnake rajongó norvég énekesfenomén a progresszív rock Arkkal vált igazán ismertté, hogy aztán a Masterplan kötelékében készített heavy metal lemezekkel a keményebb zenék híveit is maga mellé állítsa. Ezeken túl felsorolni is szinte képtelenség, hogy hány lemezen működött közre fő- vagy mellékszereplőként, a talán két legfontosabbat azért megemlíteném: Az Allen/Lande projekt két lemeze Russell Allennel és az Avantasia: The Scarecrow.
Ezen túl Lande mester már hat, legnagyobb hősei által erősen befolyásolt szólólemezt adott ki, legutóbb idén tavasszal. Ezért is meglepő hát, hogy most egy válogatáslemezzel rukkolt elő az AFM kiadó. Túl sok újdonságot nem hallhatunk, mindössze két számot (Out To Every Nation, Young Forever) vett fel újra Jorn a Dukeboxra. A Starfire lemezről egy, a Worldchangerről kettő, az Out To Every Nationről 3 dal kapott helyet a korongon. Leginkább tehát a The Duke (4 szám) és a Lonely Are The Brave (6 szám) albumok vannak erősen felülreprezentálva ezen a válogatáson. Ez persze nem baj, bár kérdés, hogy mennyire éri meg egy évvel a megjelenés után egy album felét kiadni válogatáslemezen is.
A lemezre került számok persze Jorn munkásságának kiemelkedő részét képezik, még ha egy-két nagyszerű dal szükségképpen ki is kellett, hogy maradjon. Jorn rajongóinak azonban semmi meglepetést nem tartogat a Dukebox audio része, azoknak lehet nagyon haszunos, akik most ismerkednek a norvég művész zenéjével. Nekik egyértelműen ajánlom, ezen válogatás segítségével könnyebben el tudnak majd merülni Lande hard rock világában, a rajongók azonban nyugodtan kihagyhatják, maximum azért lehet érdemes beszerezni, hogy továbbra is meglegyen minden egyes Jorn kiadvány a polcon.

The works of Jorn Lande are pretty diverse. The Whitesnake fan norwegian mastersinger became famous with the progressive rock band Ark, but he conquered the hearts of the heavy metal fans during his stay in Masterplan. It’s nearly impossible to make a complete list of his own projects or albums hich featured him as a guest singer, but I mention only the two most known: Allen/Lande with Russell Allen and the Avantasia: Scarecrow.
But Master Lande released six solo albums too, which were heavily influenced by his heroes, most notably Whitesnake and DIO. His latest solo was released this spring, so it was quite shocking that AFM released a Jorn Lande best of too in such a short span. There’s nothing new on the album, except the new versions of Out To Every Nation and Young Forever. From his first solo album only the title track is featured on Dukebox, there are two from Worldchanger and three from Out To Every Nation. So Dukebox is almost entirely filled with songs from The Duke (4 tracks) and Lonely Are The Brave (6 tracks) which is not bad, but you could question the decision that only after a year after an album’s release you put half of that album’s content on a best of cd.
However the songs on Dukebox are exceptional parts of Jorn Lande’s Works, although some very good songs had to be dropped off due to the capacity of the cd. For Jorn fans there’s almost nothing surprise the audio part of Dukebox, but for those who just started to listen to Jorn’s music could be really useful. I definitely recommend Dukebox to them, with this compilation they could really drown in Lande’s hard rock world, but fans could easily give Dukebox a miss, for them the sole purpose of the purchase could be to still have all Jorn releases on the shelf.
