Gyanítom, és egyúttal remélem is, hogy Jorn Lande-t valamint bor- és blues ízű hangját csak keveseknek kell bemutatni a dallamos rock/metal zenék kedvelőinek körében. A már sok formációból (pl. Millennium, Ark, Masterplan) ismerhető énekes ezúttal újra a szívéhez legközelebb álló stílusban alkotott. A lemezen klasszikus hard rock nóták sorjáznak a 80-as évek klasszikus metal muzsikájának apróbb elemeivel fűszerezve. A tempó ennek megfelelőn szinte végig nyugis, nincsenek se balladák, se igazi, fejet letépő száguldások, csak jobbára egyszerű dalok, király szólók és agyba ragadó refrének.
Rövid, digitális „méhzúgással” indul a Spirit Black, mely szellős, szaggatott alapokra, riffekre épül, és lassú középtempóban folydogál. Sajnos minden téren elég visszafogottnak érzem, bár nem rossz, nem hasít úgy, ahogy egy nyitó/címadó dalnak kellene. Gitármelódiákkal indul a csendesen ballagó, talán a kevésbé fülbemászó dalok egyikeként számon tartható Below, mely hallgatása közben valahogy, valamiért a Deep Purple neve suhant át az agyamon. Bólogatós, zakatolós, kicsit metalosabb felfogásban íródott dal a Road Of The Cross, mely refrénje mélyebb tónusban szólal meg, dallamai pedig kelet misztikumát idézik fel.
A The Last Revolution egy grúvos téma köré épülő, egyszerű, szellős dal, a legtöbb szerzeményben fontos szerepet betöltő, építkezős szólókomplexummal, kimért tempóval. Kissé szájberesen úszik be a szikár alapozás mellett izgalmas dobtémákat és díszítésként jól megkomponált harangjátékot is felvonultató City In Between. Ének- és gitárdallamai egyaránt kiemelkedőek, szólója érzelmekkel teli, egyértelmű gyöngyszem! Akusztikus balladának indul, de szikáran pontozó basszusra alapuló, szintivel bőven fűszerezett kellemes ívű, jókat éneklő rock nótává alakul a Rock N Roll Angel, melytől végig szinte hibátlan szerzemények sorjáznak a lemezen.
A CD egyetlen gyors dala a Burn Your Flame, mely halványan a Mr. Big első slágerének hangulatát, lendületét, domináns basszusjátékát hozza, természetesen király refrénnel megkoronázva. Tipikus rock/metal témával illetve építkezéssel indul be a szépen felépített World Gone Mad, mely számomra igen kellemes módon szinte végig Thin Lizzy hangulatot, érzést hoz s melynek viszonylag rövid szólója nagyon illik a dalba. Az újabb szaggatott, sőt inkább már széttördelt, halálosan egyszerűnek tűnő dal, az I Walk Alone méltó zárása az anyagnak. Bár refrénje mintha ismerősnek tűnne valahonnan, Mr. Lande hatalmasat domborít benne mind dallamok, mind ének tekintetében. Pazar befejezés.
Azt hiszem, ezzel az albummal két baja lehet az embernek. Vagy eleve nem szereti a stílust, melyben fogant, vagy unalmasnak tartja, hogy egy kivételével majdnem ugyanabban a tempóban hangzanak el a dalok. Bevallom ez utóbbi miatt olykor én is bosszankodtam picit, Jorn hangját azonban nehéz nem szeretni, dallamérzéke pedig sosem volt kérdéses, refrénjei szárnyalnak, és magukkal ragadnak, bárhová szálljanak is. Vannak 1-2 hallgatás után, azaz szinte azonnal ütő opuszok, mint a Burn Your Flame vagy az I Walk Alone, és vannak kicsit lassabban ható melódiák is, melyek egy része a City In Between-ben és a World Gone Mad-ban bújik meg.
Kellemes, jobbára együtténeklős hallgatnivaló, jövőbéli Jorn koncertek leendő slágereivel megtűzdelve.

ENGLISH VERSION:
I suspect, and hope at the same time, that Jorn Lande and his wine- and blues tasted voice need no introduction in the circles of melodic rock/metal fans. The singer, known from several formations (eg. Millennium, Ark, Masterplan), again created in the genre standing closest to his heart. There are classic hard rock songs on the record spiced with the tiny elements of classic metal of the ’80s. According to this, the tempo is mainly calm during the album, there are neither ballads, nor crushing fast pieces, just simple tunes, cool solos, and extremely catchy choruses.
Spirit Black opens with a short, digital „bee buzz” which is based on spacy, staccato themes, riffs, flowing in a slower mid-tempo. Unfortunately, I feel this to be a bit moderate in every aspect. Though not bad, it does not strike the way an opener/title track should have. Below, which is one of the less memorable tracks destined for the record, starts with silently sauntering guitar melodies which reminded me a bit of Deep Purple somehow. Road Of The Cross has been composed in a bit more headbanging, clattering, metal vein in which the chorus is a bit deeper, and the melodies reminds me of a mystic oriental nature.
The Last Revolution is based around a groovy theme, it’s a simple, spacy song, with a well built up solo part typical of most tunes and a moderate tempo. City I Between floats in in a bit cyber way presenting interesting drum patterns and well-composed bell play as a spice beside the solid base. Both the vocals and guitar melodies are outstanding here, the solo is full of emotions, it’s a real treasure! Rock No Roll Angel starts as an acoustic ballad, but later it turns into a solid bass-based, synth-spiced, pleasant rock track with good vocals, and from this track, all songs are almost flawless.
The only fast one of the CD is Burn Your Flame, reminding of the mood, dynamism, dominant bass play of Mr. Big’s first hit song, topped of course with a brilliant chorus. The nicely built-up World Gone Mad opens with a typical rock/metal theme, bringing a sort of pleasant Thin Lizzy feeling and it also has a fitting solo. I Walk Alone is again a staccato, almost broken apart, simple as hell song, a fitting ending of the album. Though the chorus somehow sounds familiar, Mr. Lande does a great job in this vocal-wise. A perfect ending.
Guess one can have two problems with this album. One thing that he/she could basically dislike this genre it has been written in, or, one could find boring the songs, except one, of nearly the same tempo. I must admit at times I”m also having problems with this latter, however, Jorn’s voice must be liked, and he has a talent for melodies, he brings very good choruses. There are songs that can be memorized after 1 or 2 listens like Burn your Flame or I Walk Alone, and there are also melodies that take effect slowly as in City In Between and World Gone Mad. It’s a pleasant, for the most part sing-along type stuff, filled with soon-to-be classic live tracks by Jorn.
