ENGLISH VERSION:

Recently I”m beginning to discover that how much it matters if a steady label stands behind a band. Malebogia has existed since 2000, but I did not heard about them (or, better to say, I heard of a band with a similar name, which is the side-project of Disgorged”s drummer, but they changed their moniker to Malecoda). After noticing, they”re on one of my fave death metal label, Comatose Music, I wanted to know them. I have not heard a weak release by them so I was really positive concerning the debut of the North Carolina band.

Well, again, I did not have to get disappointed since, from the very beginning, we can hear high-quality and -tempo death metal music, in which the influence of old classic bands like Immolation, Suffocation blends with more modern band”s influence such as Krisiun, Cryptopsy, or Dying Fetus. Some grindcore can also be heard, and here and there, for instance, in Infestdead, some deathcore is also present which I like very much. The music of the band, by the way, is seemingly built on two things: brutality and extreme speed. For this, the founding members Joseph Darling guitarist, and Kevin Hedgecock drummer (whose name is becoming more well-known due to his fast drumming) are responsible, but the whole thing is not a messy chaos but it the memorable and well-written guitar riffs, tight but varied drum parts make the music easy to digest. What was a bit frustrating first is the use of triggered drums, especially since Kevin often uses the gravity blast technique. Thus, it took some time for me to get used to the opening of Discordant Splendor, but now I”d be missing this if it sounded different. Moreover, it even adds something to the heavy atmosphere in a way that it does not override the vocals and other instruments. The sound is good, and balanced. There are more people contributing to the vocal themes, so beside the vocalist, the two founding member also sing, and their ex-vocalist, Josh Albright also appears in two tracks. The main body of the material is half an hour and I”d have added some more songs to it but they compensate that with two bonus tracks, one being a remake of an older song, Pissing Pus, and the other, Cock Rockin’ Fever, is a good hard rock (!) opus, in which the vocalist shows us his talent! He does not afraid of higher regions and the others also show they are open-minded musically. Bonus or not, it”s also an excellent song even if some people will find it ridiculous or annoying.

The band, starting from their formation, has walked the usual path patiently, and, after an EP, a promotional demo and a split, they came up in, 2009, with a mature, high-level debut material. Comatose also did their thing, took this relatively unknown band, signed them to deliver another potential favourite band to me, and to those who like brutal music, extreme tempos, and lots of gravity blast. Thanks for that!
