Idén jelentették meg három dalos demójukat, a Beyond Myths and Legends-et.

Az első nóta The Keeper of Cosmos címre hallgat és igen kellemes, orientális fuvolatémával operál, ahogy a hegedű is rendkívül szimpatikus.

ENGLISH VERSION:

Methysos is a young Cyprian “troll folk metal” band from Limassol. They follow mostly the path of such well-known folk/black metal groups, like Finntroll (their “lighter” songs) and TrollfesT. They released a three-song-long demo, Beyond Myths and Legends this year.

The first track is entitled as The Keeper of Cosmos and has a very pleasant oriental flute theme, as well as the violin is also very sympathetic. In spite of these, the drums are rather clattering, which is heaped by the demo sound of the entire album. The quality and the lack of mixing are the biggest problems with the whole material, and it’s the most irritating in the complex metal parts, while for example the folk interlude of the first song sounds quite good. The lead harsh vocals are supported by female vocals and sometimes clear male vocals and choirs, like in Farewell, which also has a good melodic bass solo. And then Rumplestiltskin absolutely invokes the early demos of TrollfesT in me, of course combined with violin and female vocals. Musically this band is in the company of the pint and drinking horn wavers, but their lyrics tell myths and legends as the title shows.

The biggest problem of the material is the demo sound, but it’s really a demo, so perhaps we shouldn’t lay upon them this seriously. This is a very short material (10,5 minute-long) but I’d prefer of they’d use more parts from the Cypriot folklore. Maybe we’ll hear more “true Cyprian folk” later, but all in all it’s an exciting initiation, so I have Methysos for meritable to listen and follow.
