A Moonspeel zenekar elég sikeres ahhoz, hogy végre megjelenjen az első DVD-je. Bár, ami azt illeti már sokkal hamarabb megérdemelték volna, mert ugyebár a ’90-es évek elején alakultak és szinte minden egyes albumukkal egyre népszerűbbek lettek. Hogy eddig miért nem jelent meg videó anyaguk, az számomra rejtély.
A Lusitanian Metal háromféle kiszerelésben jelent meg: van szimpla, kétlemezes változat, értékesebb, jewel case formátumú és persze limitált verzió is, mely egy plusz CD-t is tartalmaz, amelyen a katowicei koncert felvételét hallhatjuk.
Szóval december 8-án Lusitanian Metal címmel végre jelent meg a Moonspell első DVD-je a Metal Mind Productions gondozásában. A hangzás természetesen Dolby Digital 2.0 és 5.1, a lemezek hossza pedig durván hat óra. Ezt végignézve tehát maximálisan a Moonspell hatása alá kerülhetünk. A booklet is megfelelően igényesen lett kialakítva, így több fotó is helyet kaphatott benne.
Elsőként a katowicei koncertet láthatjuk, amelynek megtekintése után tényleg Moonspell örültekké válhatunk. Mint utólag kiderült, a felvételek közül ez a show tetszett számomra a legjobban. Remek vágásokat és kameraállásokat figyelhetünk meg, teljesen a koncerten érezhetjük magunkat, és nagyon jó dolog, hogy végre egy minőségi videón láthatja az ember a kedvencét.
A lemez másik felén hét videóklipet tekinthetünk meg, melyek egyike sem újdonság, de ettől még ezek is értékes gyöngyszemek, hiszen olyan dalokról van szó, mint pl. az örök sláger Opium, a Magdalene vagy a Nocturna.
Ezen felül, az első korongon találhatunk még egy knowledge részt is, ahol komplett diszkográfiát és egy negyedórás, vámpírhangulatú interjút is láthatunk. Az első lemez hibátlannak tekinthető.
A kettes korongon egy több részből álló archívumot kapunk, a kezdetektől egészen a The Eclipse Tour (2003-2005) elnevezésű koncertsorozatig.
Először az 1992 és 1995 között zajlott eseményeket nézhetjük meg, kezdve az első koncertjükkel, de láthatunk egy live rehearsalt és a Cradle Of Filth-el közös turnét is. A minőség itt jóval gyengébb, de mit lehet várni ilyen múzeumi daraboktól. Ez inkább csak unikum.
A következő szakaszban egy rövidebb betekintést kapunk az 1995-96-os évekbe, a Napalm Death zenekarral zajlott turnéba. Ez megint inkább csak csemege, mert az előző részhez hasonló, gyengébb minőséget kapunk.
A hatodik fejezettől már egy fokkal jobb a minőség, amely a Perverse Almost Religious Tour koncertsorozat 1996-os krakkói és dortmundi fellépéseit rejti. Ez már kifejezetten élvezhető, főleg az olyan dalok miatt, mint a Wolfshade, a Vampiria.
Egy újabb szakaszhoz érünk az It’s A Sin Tour (1997-1999) résszel. Itt már elég nagy előrelépést figyelhetünk meg, mert érezhető és látható, hogy mennyire megnőtt a Moonspell rajongók száma és talán ez volt az a pont amikor „beért” a zenekar. Egyre többen őrülnek meg a zenéjükre és ez jól látható a felvételeken is.
A további három turnésorozaton is nagyon jól érezhető a fejlődés, ahogy eljutunk 2005-ig és a The Antidote albumig. Itt is láthatunk olyan csemegét, mint az Izraelben előadott Alma Mater / Vampiria dal, ahol szinte megölik egymást a rajongók.
Lehet, túlzásokba esek, de nem találtam hibát az anyagon. Maximális élvezet és teljesen áttekinti a Moonspell sikeres munkásságát. Emellett rengeteg csemegét is találhatunk, ezeknek is köszönhető, hogy maximális élvezetet nyújt a Lusitanian Metal.

It seems that the band Moonspell became successful enough to release its first Dvd. Actually, they would have deserved it a lot earlier, since they formed in the early 90’s and with almost every album they became more and more popular. So it remains a mystery, why they haven’t released video material before.
Lusitanian Metal has been released in three different ways: as the simple, two Dvd pack, as a simple cd with the audio of the concert on the first disc of the Dvd set, and as a specially packaged box containing all three discs.
So, on the 8th of December, the first Dvd of Moonspell was released by Metal Mind Productions. Nowadays obviously, the viewer can choose between Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1 sounds; the altogether length of the discs is around 6 hours. Sitting through it all, we can be completely drawn into the world of Moonspell. The booklet has also been designed nicely enclosing many photos.
The first part of the first disc is the concert in Katowice, Poland, which can turn anyone into a true Moonspell fan. Later I realised that this was my favourite of all the shows on the disc. Gorgeous cuts and viewpoints create the feeling that we are there at the concert, and it is a very good thing to see one’s favourite on a high-quality recording.
Seven music videos occupy the other part of the disc and although neither of them are new, they still are valuable treasures being of songs such as the forever hit Opium or Magdalene or Nocturna.
Additionally, we can also find a part entitled „Knowledge” on the first disc, which contains a full discography and a 15 minutes interview in a vampirical setting. The first disc can be considered flawless.
On the second disc there is an archives containing materials from the beginning until The Eclipse Tour (2003-2005). First, we can watch events from the 1992-1995 era: their first concert, a live rehearsal and the tour with Cradle of Filth. Quality is much worse here, but what can one expect from material this old? These are rather unique stuff, not quality stuff.
Next, we get a brief glimpse of the years 1995-1996, including the tour with Napalm Death. Again, this is something valuable for its rarity, because its quality is like the previous one’s.
Chapter six – where the quality gets a bit better – contains the Krakow and Dortmund stops of the Perverse Almost Religious Tour in 1996. These are enjoyable thanks to the better quality and songs like Wolfshade (A Werewolf Masquerade) or Vampiria.
A new chapter begins with the It’s a Sin Tour from 1997 to 1999. A great leap forward can be observed here, since the increase in the number of Moonspell fans is self-evident, and maybe this was the point when the band „ripened”. More and more people go crazy for their music and this is clearly visible on the recording.
Development can be felt through the next three tours, until we get to the tour of 2005 and the album The Antidote. There are specialties here as well, just like Alma Mater / Vampiria performed in Israel where the fans almost kill each other.
Maybe I’m overestimating the package, but I couldn’t find any mistakes here. Maximally enjoyable and covers the whole succesful career of Moonspell. Apart of this, we can find a whole bunch of special, unique stuff which also adds to the enjoyability of Lustianian Metal.
