A One Step Ahead zenekara Pusztaszabolcsról származik, s Kis G. „aka” Attila (Motivation) segédletével 2007-ben kiadásra került az első anyaguk, amely 5 számot tartalmaz. Tehát nem lehet teljes lemezről beszélni, talán EP-ként könyvelhető el. Az album elég jól dörren meg, a dob kicsit gyengébb a többi hangszerhez képest megszólalásban, de összességében jónak mondható. Sajnos élőben még nem láttam a zenekart, pedig volt már jó pár koncertjük pályafutásuk során.
Nagyon dinamikus old-school hardcore-t kaphatunk a srácoktól, akiken abszolút látszik, hogy szeretik azt, amit művelnek. Jó úton haladnak, mert ha még rágyúrnak egy kicsit az összképre, akkor rövid időn belül eléggé sikeres lehet a végeredmény.
Az ének volt kissé furcsa nekem, de mivel elég sok ilyen zenét hallgatok, ezért nem tartom zavarónak, egyáltalán nem tré, sőt. Zeneileg akik közel állhatnak a bandához: a Warzone, a Ten Yard Fight, a Wide Awake, a Chain of Strength, hogy csak a divatosabbakat mondjam. Mindegyik szám nagyon cool, még az angolul előadott „One Step Ahead” is.
Annyit mondok, mindenképp jó dolog, hogy egyre több fiatal arc vesz hangszert a kezébe, mert szükség van a dömpingre, mivel hazánk könnyűzenei helyzete nem éppen rózsás. Eleinte, ha még nem is a legjobb minőséget képviselik (nem a srácokra gondoltam), de legalább próbálkoznak felmutatni valamit. Már csak a színtért, a koncertjáró emberek számát kéne megnövelni.
Mostanában egyre több király buli van Pesten és vidéken egyaránt. Szinte minden napra talál az ember egy koncertet, viszont az embertömeg nem változik, hanem eloszlik, ami azt eredményezi, hogy kevesebben látogatnak el. Szóval gyerünk. Várom az új One Step Ahead anyagot, mert mindenképp biztató ez a korong, s remélem, nem adják fel a vidéki srácok, mert van potenciál abban, amit művelnek.

One Step Ahead is hailing from Pusztaszabolcs, and with the help of Kis G aka Attila (Motivation) they released their first stuff in 2007 including 5 tracks. So we cannot speak about a full-length but rather an EP. The production is quite good, maybe the drums are weaker a bit compared to the other instruments but, all in all, it’s good. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the band live so far but they’ve had some quite some gigs behind.
The guys offer very dynamic, oldschool hardcore and they seemingly love what they’re doing. They’re on the right path because if they put some more effort into the whole, the result might be successful in a short time.
It was the vocal which was strange for me a bit but since I listen to such music quite a lot, it’s not bad at all, moreover! Musically, bands similar to this band may be Warzone, Ten Yard Fight, Wide Awake, Chain of Strength just to mention the more popular ones. All tracks are very cool, even the English-written „One Step Ahead”.
All I say is that it’s good that an increasing number of young people take musical instruments in their hands because we need dumping since our domestic state of lighter music is not that great. Even if at first the quality is not the best (I’m not talking about the guys here), but at least try to come up with something. Only the scene and the number of people attending gigs should be increased.
Recently there are more cool gigs both in Budapest and in the country as well. You can almost find a gig for each day, however, the mass of people doesn’t change but diffuses resulting in less people at a given gig. So come on. I’m looking forward to the new One Step Ahead stuff because this release is promising and I hope the guys won’t give up. They have the potential.
