Az Outloud zenekart 2008-ban alakították a Firewind tagjai Bob Katsionis (Keyboards, Guitar) és Mark Cross (Drums). Történetük 2004-ig nyúlik vissza, amikor is Tony Kash gitárleckéket kezdett venni Bob Katsionis-tól.

A sablonosság csúcsa a 3. dal (Tonight) kezdő riffje.

ENGLISH VERSION:

Outload was formed in 2008 by the members of Firewind (Bob Katsionis – keyboard, guitar, Mark Cross – drums). They history started in 2004, when Tony Kash attended Bob Katsionis’ guitar classes. It was in Athens, and bands starting from here always has some interestingly European heaviness, mixed with some American optimism. And if something unique is also there, I usually like this kind of a band. Bob found his student a talented rock and roll kid, and as usually happens in cases like this, after finding the other members, a band became complete.

Nowadays it’s impossible to compose music without being influenced by some other bands or musicians. It’s not a problem, moreover, the label itself tells it to us in the promo; but I think there were no albums in the past 15 years whose influences were not admitted when it was asked in an interview after the album had come out. So I have no complaints about it, it’s the same story here. My problem with the album is that it’s too schematic and idealess, and the influences are so heavy that sometimes I forget that I’m hearing new stuff, and not a „Best of” album or a medley. Unfortunately, this album is very hackneyed… The music wouldn’t be bad, but each minute of the album reminds me to a great song of an other band. The hackneyedness culminates at Track 3’s beginning riff. It’s way too much in my opinion. The whole album is a bit like an European Bon Jovi, peppered by influences of other American soapy musicians. It’s okay that Athens is as sunny as New Jersey, but there really should be something which makes this album distinctive from others. There are no such moments, and it’s a problem.

To say something positive, the guitars sound great, it’s powerful, and the solos are better, more enjoyable than those of their American pop/glam metal/hair metal fellows. But even after several listenings, none of the songs crush me at all. They rather bring back some good memories when I heard the original version of the songs for the first time. I don’t think that it’s a good idea to build an album of the best moments of our favourites. Those moments only bring back the old feelings in the listeners, like me.

An idealess, hackneyed, but well-sounding American pop-rock CD was born in Athens. As for me, I really feel pity for it, with some more own ideas and less boring, dull copies of melodies and lyrics, it would have been a 8/10 score. But it’s only 5/10 with it, they should give half of it to the original music/lyrics writer of their songs…
