Aki a hazai prog metal Seneca-ra kíváncsi, az ne is olvasson tovább, mert nagyon nem neki való zenéről lesz szó! Köszönöm. 🙂
Ezelőtt még nem hallottam a római filozófusról elnevezett amerikai ötösrol (Corey-ének, Joe-gitár/billenytűs hangszerek, Ryan-gitár, Nathan-dob, Rico-basszusgitár), de mára ez is megváltozott. 2002-ben alakultak, eddig egy cím nélküli lemezük jelent meg 2004-ben, tavaly leigazolta őket a Lifeforce kiadó, remaszterelték az első lemezt, majd idén tavasszal kijött a ‘Reflections’. Hogy mire lehet számítani a kb. fél órában? Hardcore/metal, metalcore, vagy deathcore – kinek hogy tetszik.
Kellemes introval („Optical”) indul az album, majd jönnek a zúzások, belassulások, hörgés/dallamos ének váltogatása, néha billentyűs betét is színesíti a képet. Pl. a „Palehorse”-ban, ami az egyik legjobb tétel, a vége nagyon el lett találva. Utána a „Black gold” is egész jó, majd 2 kevésbé maradandó nóta, a 6-os „Illusions”-nél kapunk egy kis megnyugvást szerencsére, a 9-es „Your heart in my hands” nyújt még valami változatosságot, majd egy lassú, instrumentális tétellel zárul a cd (a címadó „Reflections”).
Nekem a kiemelt számok tetszenek, ezek maradnak meg bennem később is, a többi darálás kicsúszik az emlékeimből. Nem rossz hallgatni, meg ügyesek is a srácok (az énekes és a dobos főleg), a lemez sem hosszú szerencsére, a váltások nagyon jók, de nem vagyok egy nagy deathcore(?)-rajongó.
A Lifeforce-os bandákban meg nem nagyon lehet csalódni, így a minőség adott.

I haven’t heard about this American five-member band (named after the Roman philosopher) before, whose members are: Corey (vocals), Joe (guitar, keyboard), Ryan (guitar), Nathan (drums), Rico (bass guitar). But now it has changed. They were formed back in 2002, and had an unnamed CD in 2004, then last year, they were signed a contract with Lifeforce. They remastered the first CD, then this year, „Reflections” came out. What to be expected in this half an hour? Hardcore/metal, metalcore, or deathcore – depending on how you call it.
The album starts with a nice intro (Optical), then comes the trashing, the slow parts, the fluctuating of the growl and melodic vocals, sometimes peppered by keyboard themes. For example in „Palehorse”, one of the best tracks on the album, the end of the song is great. Then „Black Gold” is quite good, too, but then two less memorable songs are coming. Fortunately, we can be relieved by listening to Track 6. Track 9, „Your heart in my hands” offers us various themes, and then a slow, instrumental track closes the album (it has the same title as the album, „Reflections”).
I liked the highlighted songs, they were the most memorable for me, the other whirling songs made lesser impact to me. It’s not bad to hear it, the guys are also skilled (especially the vocalist and the drummer), fortunately the CD isn’t too long, the shifts are very good, but I’m not a big deathcore (?) fan.
And since it’s a band supported by Lifeforce, the quality is given (like almost always), we won’t be disappointed.
