A Sharp Practise egy klasszikus rock banda, de nem az üvöltős rock ’n’ roll monster fajtából. Itt nyugis, olykor csendes a zene, olyanokhoz szól, akik nem mondanak nemet egy-egy akusztikus blokkra sem. A Radiocity, mely a második (és eddig utolsó) lemeze a zenekarnak, alapvetően – szövegeit és érzelmeit tekintve is – egy album az utazásról. Egy utazásról egy idegen országon át, mely során arcodon mosoly, hátadon a nap sugarai játszanak. A zenészek rutinos, mondhatni öreg rókák a szakmában. Könnyed zenéjüket rádiók játsszák szerte a világon, többek között az USA-ban és Ausztráliában is, Franciaországban 200 000 kópia kelt el a Radiocity-ből. Jócskán voltak már tévés szerepléseik is és magazinok címlapján is találkozhatott már velük pl. az argentin, a dán, a japán vagy az új-zélandi rajongó. Úgy tűnik, csak mi maradtunk ki a szórásból. Sajnos én biztosan.
De mélyedjünk kicsit el a zenében. Kis dobfelütéssel s szinte azonnal énekkel nyit az akusztikus gitárra alapozó, kicsit (pozitív értelemben) tábortűz hangulatú Bridge Across The Harbour, melynek kis szólisztikus díszítés dobja fel refrénjét. Szintén dobbal indul a kicsit Tom Petty-s érzést keltő, kiváló női vokállal megtámogatott, már-már andalító, lelket megérintő No Thanks, ami szerintem a lemez egyik csúcspontja. Monoton verzealap, grúvos, női kórusos, orgonaszőnyeges refrén, wah-os szóló jellemzi az egyik legtöbb torzított gitárt hozó Bed Of Rhythm-öt. Az újabb dobozgitárra épülő, kiváló, ezúttal balladás dalban, a Morgan’s Creek-ben vonósok díszítgetnek, kopogósan kávázik a dob, a refrént herfli dobja fel, és a gitárszóló is említést érdemel. Az egyik legenergikusabb refrénű nóta a How Katie Feels. Ebben is végig szól az akusztikus gitár, de a refrénben a torzító is megszólal. Jófajta benne a szóló is, hangulatos tekeréssel a végén. Elsősorban ritmusa miatt retró diszkó fílinget áraszt a Choice Not Freedom, melyet viszonylag monoton alapok és billentyűszóló jellemez. Talán nem ez a legemlékezetesebb szám a lemezen, nekem valahogy mégis kedves. Ketyegéssel startol a lemez másik legjobb, megszokott módon akusztikus gitárra épülő szerzeménye, a Family Of Nations. Refrénje zseniális, fantasztikus sláger válhatna belőle, olyan More Than Words (Extreme) szintű, csak ez nem oly lassú, viszont egyszerű és feledhetetlen. Némiképp rétegzettebb, mégis könnyed, szintis rock nóta a Paint My Dreams sóhajnyi new wave érzéssel, popos dobtémával. Később újra felbukkanó szaxofonnal nyit a szerelmetes, tábortüzes, egymáshoz tartozós hangulatú Light Of The Day. Kiválóan zárja az albumot a How Do You Take It, mely egy igazi ballada kiváló vokálokkal, finom, ízes szólóval, picike Enuff Z’ Nuff jelenléttel.
Kortalan, időtálló, könnyed, hangulatos soft rock zene, amit a Sharp Practise elénk tár. A Radiocity pedig egyfajta slágergyűjtemény, melyről szinte bármelyik dal kislemezre kerülhetne és lehetne rádiós, tévés siker. Tiszta, áttekinthető, mégis színes zenét, zseniális dallamorgiát hallhatunk a CD-n, AOR, hard rock, glam és sleaze fanoknak kötelező. Gyaníthatóan nem kevesen fogják azt mondani rá, hogy nyálas, de ettől függetlenül vagy pont emiatt juthat el olyanokhoz is, akik egyébként nem túl fogékonyak még a lágyabb, barátságosabb rockzenékre sem.

ENGLISH VERSION:
The Sharp Practise is a classic rockband, but it isn’t one of the roaring rock ‘n’ roll monster type band. It is easygoing, sometimes soft music. This music is for the people who don’t say no for an acoustical block. The Radiocity – which is the second album (and the last till now) – of the band is an album of a journey basically – bethinking of the lyrics and its feeling too. It is about a journey through a foreign country and the smile is playing on your face, and the sun is playing on your back. The bandsmen are groovy old hands at this profession. Their light music is played all over the world among as the USA and Australia. 200,000 copies of Radiocity have been sold in France. They has got lots of appears for tv, fans has been able to meet the band at the front pages of magazines for example in Argentina, Denmark, Japan and New Zealand. It seems we have been out of this scatter yet. Unfortunately me, sure.
But let’s have a look at the music in-depth. The Bridge Across The Harbour opens with a little dub and singing immediately, it is built upon an acoustic guitar. It has got campfire feeling a bit – in a positive meaning of course. Its chorus is raised with a bit of soloistic ornament. The No Thanks also opens with a little dub, and it has got a feeling like Tom Petty. The song is supported with an amazing female vocal. It is heady, moderate and soultapping, I think this track is the top height of the album. The Bed Of Rhythm is marked by monotonic verse base, groovy, female choir, a chorus like an organ-carpet and a solo like „wah”. This track uses the most of bias-guitar sounding. The next track is built upon the acoustic guitar again. Strings beautify, drum knocks the beat, the chorus raised with mouth-organ in this outstanding, lyric song – the Morgan”s Creek. The How Katie Feels has got the most energetic chorus. The acoustic guitar sounds in the whole track, but the bias sounds in the choir too. The solo is cool also with a twirl in the end. The Choice Not Freedom has got an retro disco feeling because of its rythm. It is marked by monotonic base, and a keyboard solo. Maybe it isn”t the most memorable song on this album, but it is very nice for me. The other cool composition of the album starts with ticking, the Family Of Nations is based on acoustic guitar sounding as regular. Its choir is amazing, this track could be a fantastic hit. It is like the More Than Words (Extreme) but not as slow however this track is simple and unforgettable. The Paint My Dreams is more stratified but it is a light rock song with a little new wave feeling and pop-drum-theme. The next track opens with a saxophone tune (wich turns up later too), the Light Of The Day is typical lovesong what you can imagine at a campfire. The How Do You Take It is an amazing ending of the album which is a real lyric song with cool vocals, smooth and fine solos and a bit of presence of the Enuff Z’ Nuff.
It is ageless, lasting, smooth and nice soft-rock music what the Sharp Practise presents us. And The Radiocity is a kind of hit collection, all tracks could be single, and they could be radio and tv hits as well. We can hear clear, perspicious but colorful music, it is a melody-orgy on this CD. It is required for AOR, hard rock, glam and sleaze fans. I can make a shrewd guess as to many people will say it is too sentimental, but without reference to this or the very same cause, it can get people who are unresponsive for niether the ligther and more friendly rock music yet.
