Április 30-án megjelent a Sons of Seasons dark/symphonic metal zenekar debütáló lemeze, mely a „Gods of Vermin” címet viseli. Viszonylag fiatal bandáról beszélhetünk, hiszen a zenekart 2007-ben alapította Palotai Olivér (ő jelenleg a gitáros és a szintis posztot tölti be). Ami a zenekar többi tagját illeti, nos, ők sem voltak tétlenek ezidáig. Henning Basse énekes ezelőtt a Brainstormban és a Gamma Rayben, Jürgen Steinmetz basszeros a Silent Force-ban, Daniel Schild dobos pedig a Blaze-ben tevékenykedett.
Az album egy intróval kezdődik („The Place Where I hide”), majd két lassabb dallal folytatódik. Ezek középtempósak, kellemes éneket és egészen jó gitártémákat tartalmaznak.
A negyedik dal („Fallen Family”) különösen elnyerte a tetszésemet. Hol keményebb részek vannak benne, hol pedig hallhatjuk a női vendégénekes, Simone Simons (Epica) gyönyörű hangját. Mindemellett egy szép gitárszólót is magába foglal ez a szerzemény.
A „The Piper” megint egy kicsit sötétebb, lassabb szerzemény, de a hangulata ennek is nagyon jó. Egyedül az éneket furcsállom egy kicsit, a magasabb hangoknál olyan, mintha Henning Basse énekes kissé be lenne rekedve.
Érdekes dal a „Wheel of Guilt”. A lassú kezdés után hirtelen begyorsítják a tempót, bár talán lehetne egy kicsit gyorsabb is.
A „Belial’s Tower” egy pörgősebb, thrash gitártémával kezdődik, és amikor meghallottam ezt a dalt, egyből az jutott eszembe, hogy bizony azért meglátszik, hogy egyes tagok Blaze Bayley-vel zenéltek együtt, ugyanis például az ének nagyon hasonlít a Blaze zenéjére.
Egy lassabb, romantikusabb dal a „Wintersmith”, melyben újra megjelenik a női vokál. Annyira nem jött be ez a szerzemény, számomra ez már túl lassú.
A következő dalnál, mely a „Dead Man’s Shadow” címet viseli, már úgy érzed, mintha az előbbi extra lassú dal után nem is ugyanazt a zenekart hallgatnád. Ez a szám mindenesetre elég tetszetős az ötletes gitárokkal és szintivel.
A „Third Moon Rising” egy nagyszerű befejezése az albumnak. Bár viszonylag hosszú (7 perces), de akár beillene egy outronak is: hangulatos, dallamos refrén, remek befejező témák.
Tudom, hogy a zene szempontjából nem számít, de a borítóról is ejtenék néhány szót. Manapság szerintem egyre inkább háttérbe szorul az, hogy mi szerepeljen egy borítón, a Sons of Season esetében azonban ez nem igaz. Egy nagyszerűen megkomponált képet látunk, melyen egy goth stílusú nő sakkozik egy olyasvalakivel, akinek a keze oda van szögelve az asztalhoz. Ez nem egy sablonos „true dark” kép, hanem egy nagyon szép, klisémentes fotó.
A Sons of Seasons debütáló albuma tehát nem egy rossz kiadvány. Ugyan néhol kicsit vontatott az egész, és a lassú dalok sem annyira jönnek be, részemől mégis 7/10.

ENGLISH VERSION:
Sons of Seasons dark/symphonic metal band released their debut album in 30th, April, called „Gods of Vermin”. It is quite a young band, and it was formed in 2007 by Oliver Palotai (he’s playing on the guitar and piano). As for the other members of the band, well, they played in many bands, too. Henning Basse (vocals) played in Brainstorm and Gamma Ray, Jürgen Steinmetz (bass) played in Silent Force and Daniel Shild played in Blaze.
The album starts with an intro („The Place Where I Hide”), then continous with two slower songs. These have middle-tempo with nice vocals and great guitar themes.
The fourth sond („Fallen Family”) is a really great song. This song have harder parts and we can hear the beautiful voice of Epica’s singerin, Simone Simons. And Its also have a wonderful guitar solo.
„The Piper” is a darker, slower song, but Its feeling is nice. Vocals are a bit strange here, It seems that Henning Basse vocalist has a throathy vioce.
Now, „Wheel of Guilt” is an interesting song. The beggining is slow, but they suddenly speed the tempo, but I think it can be faster.
„Belial’s Tower” is a faster song, which begins with a trash metal guitar theme, and when I firstly heared this song, I thought: we can notice that they played together with Blaze Bayley before, because the vocals are similar to Blaze’s music.
„Wintersmith” is a slower, romantic song, and we can enjoy here again the female vocals. But I don’t really like it, because this is too slow for me.
The next song, called „Dead Man’s Shadow”, you feel, that you don’t hear the same band. But I like this song with Its great guitars and piano.
„Third Moon Rising” is a great song for last. It’s quite a long song (7 minutes), but it can be an outro: melodic refrain, great last themes.
It doesn’t matter, but I would like to mention the cover, too. I think, bands don’t mind, what is on the cover, but as for Sons of Seasons, that’s not true. This album has a fantastic cover with a gothic girl playing chess with a man, who’s hands are clinched to the table. This is not an average „true dark” picture, but a beautiful photo without cliche.
So Sons of Seasons debut album is not a bad one. Sometimes It’s too slow, and I don’t really like the slow songs, but in my opinion, It’s 7/10.
