A svájci illetőségű project – Andrej Abplanalp (basszusgitár), Bruno Spring (gitár), Gianni Pontillo (ének), Mauro Casciero (dob) – harmadik lemeze („Son Of Armageddon” 2006 és „Metal Casino” 2007) jelent meg idén szeptemberben. Zenéjükben a kő rock ‘n roll keveredik heavy metal jegyekkel, nagyjából a ’80-as évek vonalát követve.

Az On And On elegye mindkét előző számnak – hangulatilag egy hard rock nóta igazából. A gitár jól szaggat, a ritmusszekció is teszi a magáét: pontos, dinamikus, határozott játék, jól kidolgozott témák, remek előadás. Klasszikus darab. A This Song Is For You egy hosszúra eresztett darab, kellemes vonalvezetéssel, karakteres, lassú tempóval, finom énekkel megáldva.

ENGLISH VERSION:

The third album (Son of Armageddon, 2006 and Metal Casino, 2007) of this Swiss project – Andrej Abplanalp (bass), Bruno Spring (guitar), Giannai Pontillo (vocals), Mauro Casciero (drums) – was released in September, this year. In their music, stone rock ‘n roll and trademarks of heavy metal re mixed, mainly from the ’80s line. Clean, metallic play, high-pitched vocals, everything is here for the making of such a „retro” record.

The opener how could have another title than Sex Drugs and Rock ‘n Roll?:) The whole almost springs after the dynamic, buoyant riffs as if you’re about to off to go with a working engine and burning wheels. The basics are rock hard, pure rock and roll, raspy yet melodic vocals, a fairly thick sound and power, power and power. The entire sound is good and wildness is a compulsory equipment of the musicians:) Love Ain’t A Game To Play rather operates with heavy metal trademarks, but it’s not out of place of the band. Gianni also shows his wide range of vocals, while in the previous song the raspy, deeper vocals are typical, here he uses higher and more melodic tones. The song itself is built on a simple heave metal base which (I think) has been played many times – it’s nothing special, though the solo is cool but the rest is compulsory stylistic stuff. On and On is a mixture of the previous two songs. Mood-wise it’s a hard rock tune, the guitars rip well, and the rhythm section also does his thing, precise, dynamic, determined play, well worked-out themes, excellent performance. A nocturnal ride in nowhere, the headlights rip the texture of night part, but you can see actually nothing, its good for the road:) The acoustic beginning of Endlessly promises a ballad-like tune, and the slowly floating in vox also suggest this, but this is only half-true, because distorted, heavier parts are coming, although the tempo and mood remain unchanged. The solo is also so mixed, there are some stereotyped themes among the better themes but those do not ruin the structure significantly. A classic piece. The galloping rhythm of Angels In Disguise also takes us toward heavy metal though the vocals are building on the harder themes here. It’s a faster track, but somehow something’s missing here, not the dynamism, not the precision, but it does not raise us… an average track. Reorder The Disorder again starts with harder themes, braver vocals and it’s better than the previous one. I’m not saying these are ground-breaking themes (we could heard such things several times before) but it’s god to listen to this well-built song. The instruments sound well, there’s tension in the tune, cool themes follow each other, everything’s in its place. This Song Is For You is a looong one, it’s pleasant, blessed with characteristic, slow pace and fine vocals. Light floating and drifting – colours that constantly change. Thin walls among sounds, resolving bonds, flying or the recreation of a painful past? – decide yourself. A well-built, sensitive song with varying notes. Miss Paradise is an interesting peculiarity, from a certain point of view, it does not really fit the other songs, though despite its monotony it’s very creative. These are also basic themes but tell much more than the other songs. Maybe a touch of Queen can also be felt in some part but it’s not plagiarism just a simple influence. The title track Rockwolf again creates another world, there’s more modern metal influence in it so it sounds different. It’s no problem, on the contrary – it makes the whole exciting. There’s a hard shell, with heavy bass and drum base, and guitar brings a deeper-tuned line which makes the song smoky and rebellious although the tempo does not suggest that. Like some sort of blues, the effect is almost stoner-like 🙂 The closing song is a cover of Duran Duran, their most well-known tune, Wild Boys. It’s interesting to hear in a metal dressing. The cod bass parts, the staccato guitar theme, the hard as rock hammering of the drums and the raspy nature of vocals are very good, although the chorus could have been much stronger. It sounds good though they did not add too much and the passage after the first chorus gets weaker for a moment but it’s also okay.
All in all, those interested can hear a correct, past-summoning record, and to fans the third album of the band is mandatory.
