A 2004-ben alakult The Pleasures zenekar Oh Yeah Revolution c. lemeze októbertől kapható. A zenekar érdekessége hogy németek, de külsőségeiket tekintve messze túltesznek az amerikai glam bandákon. Festék, smink, színes ruhák, csizmák, Mikiegér. Ekkora káosz még a glam műfaj fénykorábn sem fogadott minket. Az ismertető szerint a német zenekar a XXI. század glam zenéjét játssza, megújítva azt. A hatások között van számos mai modern „nu-xxx” zenekar, amelyeknek zeneileg nem sok köze van a glam-hoz, igaz külsőségeikben próbálják felül múlni azt, mint pl. Marilyn Manson, aki mellé a Sweet neve is felkerült.
Gyanús volt ez a párosítás, és nem is illett a zenekar fotóihoz. Meghallgatva az albumot nem több ez mint egyszerű punk lemez modern, vagy inkább szokatlan elemekkel tűzdelve. Az igazi dühös punkhoz képest vannak benne lírai részek, és sok helyen megszólal a zongora is. Sehol semmi Amerika, 0% glam, az egész album egyszerű mint a faék, amit azért egy rendes glam bandáról nem lehet elmondani, kaptunk mi a műfajtól felejthetetlen zenészeket, mint pl. Richie Kotzen is. Nincs is ezzel semmi baj, ha az albumot a modernségre törekvő punk albumok közé soroljuk. Remekül szól, jók a dalok, érdekesek a műfaj megújítására tett próbálkozások. Ezt a törekvést, főleg pedig forradalom kitörését viszont ne ettől a zenekartól várjuk, én magam sem értem ők maguk ez komolyan gondolták-e vagy csak marketing. Ahhoz hogy egy lapon említhessék magukat a glam műfaj nagyjaival, meg kellett volna tanulniuk zenélni. A smink és a festék ehhez kevés, a punkhoz viszont szükségtelen, így nem igazán tudom most hová tenni őket. Aki glam zenére vágyik, és ezt a zenekart akarja hallgatni, csak akkor tegye ha látja is őket. Aki csak az albumra kíváncsi, az punkzeneként hallgassa. Így, az album mintegy 8.5 pontot kap nálam, elfelejtve a zenekar (vagy a kiadó) műfaji eltévelyedését és a borzalmas külsőt.

The album „Oh Yeah Revolution” is available from October , by The Pleasures. The band was formed in 2004, and one of the curious thing about them is, that though they are German, their external appearance and accessories get way ahead of the U.S. glam bands. Make-up, colorful, vivid clothes, high boots, Mickey Mouse. Such chaos have never been seen as yet, not even during highest peeks of glam era. According to the review The Pleasures plays XXI century glam, redefined. There are quite an number of influential, present day „nu-xxx” bands, that haven’t really got anything to do with glam, only in looks they do try to compete with the originals, like Marilyn Manson, but we have Sweet on the list as well.
It seemed a dubious match, doesn’t fit with the cover photos either. Actually listening to their album, we are dealing with simple punk music, spiced up with modern, or more like unusual elements. Compared with the real, aggressive, angry punk, here we have slower, melodic inlays, and often piano can be heard. No U.S.A., no glam, whatsoever. The whole set is simple as possible, unlike one would expect in the case of a glam band, just think of some of the unforgettable names like Richie Kotzen, from the glam hall of fame.
If we consider the album, what it really is, a punk one, making an effort to be modern, it is all very well. The sound is clear, the songs are great and some nice reform attempts within the genre. Of course we should not let our hopes for a total renewal get high with this band, it is unclear if even the boys take themselves seriously, or what we see here is pure marketing. Anyone who is willing to be one of the big names of glam, has got to learn to play music first.
It takes much more than make-up and hair dye, yet on the other hand, it is all unnecessary when you play punk, so here we are, all puzzled about labeling the guys.
The album is recommended to the ones looking for glam, only in the case they want something for their eyes rather than the ears. If you’d like to listen to the music, listen to it with the thought in mind, that what you get is punk.
My score is 8.5 out of 10, not taking the band’s ( or the publisher’s) mistaken labeling, and the horrible looks into consideration.
