Mostanában egyre ritkábban szeretek bele egy albumba első hallásra. Nem kis meglepetésemre azonban, a Weh En Natt Kom Doed albuma rögtön ledarálta az elmémet. A Weh-t egy éve ismertem meg a The War is Over c. számukkal, de a bandát csak az új album meghallgatása után szerettem meg. A Weh egy akusztikus projekt, amit Erik Evju, norvég zenész indított. Eddig néhány demót jelentetett meg, melyek az Origins jóvoltából rákerültek a két CD-s válogatásra is 2010-ben.
Az En Natt Kom Doed az első teljes album, mely március derekán jelent meg a Soulseller Records gondozásában. A számok hossza változó, vannak egészen hosszúak, 8 perces számuk is, valamint kivételesen rövidek is, mint az instrumentális Demon Av Natur. Az album egy hangulatos remekmű, mely gitárakkordok és szomorkás ének köré épül. Néha több hangszeres betét is az előtérbe kerül. Tetszett még, hogy a dalszövegek, melyek norvég és angol nyelven is szólnak, amolyan elbeszéléses formában jelennek meg és minden szekció egy történetet mond el. Ez egyébként is jellemző a Weh-re, ugyanis a honlapon található dalszövegek is inkább prózában, mint versszakokban vannak írva. Az ének nagyszerűen illik a történetmondós ötlethez, ugyanis gyakran úgy hallatszanak, mintha csak beszélnének ének helyett.
Az Oedegaarden, mely az első szám, felépít egyfajta feszültséget, melyet végül a belépő ének old fel. Bár néhány szám igen melankolikusra sikeredett, a többi sokkal színesebb. Például a The Unborn-nal, az album ritmikusabbá válik, miközben az ének nyugtató érzést kelt. Ezek az elemek jól rendezettek és szépen illenek a nagyjából másfél órás albumba. Egy másik szám, ami elnyerte a tetszésemet a What is Written, mely a Weh korábbi munkáira emlékeztet. Csakúgy, mint a többi szám, ez is tele van érzelmekkel és sokkal erőteljesebbnek hat.
Végezetül ki kell, hogy emeljem az album gyártása példamutatóan jóra sikeredett. Más neofolk projekttel összehasonlítva, melyek nem fektetnek akkora hangsúlyt a gyártásra, ez az album tökéletes.

ENGlISH VERSION:
Lately I’ve found it really rare that I fall in love with an album after only the first listening. Surprisingly, Weh’s En Natt Kom Doed was one of those that blew my mind immediately. I’ve discovered Weh over a year ago, with the song The War is Over, but it wasn’t until hearing the new album that I started appreciating the music. Weh is an acoustic project started by a single musician, Erik Evju from Norway. So far he has released a number of demos, which were released once again in a two-CD compilation, Origins, in 2010.
En Natt Kom Doed is the first full length album, released in mid-March through Soulseller Records. The song length varies, from quite long ones – almost 8 minutes, to some extremely short songs, such as the instrumental piece Demon Av Natur. The album is a very atmospheric piece of art, revolving around guitar strumming and sombre vocals. Every once in a while, though, there is more instrumentation added. What I also liked is that the lyrics, which are both in Norwegian and English, are composed in a sort of narratives, each section telling a short story. This is not uncommon for Weh, though, as you can find the lyrics on the official website written in prose rather than the usual verse. The vocals fit perfectly into this story-like sense, because at times they sounds as if they were not sung, but spoken.
Oedegaarden, the first song, starts quite slowly, building up the tension, until finally the vocals enter abruptly. Although some songs induce a melancholic kind of feeling, others seem to bear much more colour. For example, with the song The Unborn the album gets more rhythm, while the vocals in general bring a soothing and relaxing feeling. All of these elements are well organized and incorporated into this only about half-an-hour-long album. Another song caught my eye, a song named What is Written, which reminds me of the previous works of Weh. As with the other numbers on the album, this one shows great emotions, and therefore, sounds much stronger.
Lastly, I would like to point out that the production of the album is done in a very pedant way. Compared with some other neofolk projects, which don’t put much thought into production, this album is done perfectly.
