A kaliforniai Corona-ból származó keresztény metalcore csapat albumát már nagyon vártam, hiszen a Ferret kiadó nemrég szerződtette le a csapatot, és nagyon jó reklámot kapott, másrészt tetszettek az ízelítők, amik a myspace oldalon lecsekkolhatók voltak. Tehát nagy érdeklődéssel kezdtem el hallgatni a Forfeit Misfortunes albumot!
A zenekarnak korábban jelent már meg egy EP-je és egy lemeze The Awakening címmel. Nem hallottam minden egyes dalát, de amelyeket igen, azok meggyőzőek voltak.
Nos, ami rögtön észrevehető, hogy dallamosabbá váltak és kevesebb death metal elemet tartalmaznak a dalok, de ez nem azt jelenti, hogy nyálasabbak lennének. Az energiától duzzadó, agresszív töltetek most is jelen vannak, csak emészthetőbb verzióban. Harrison továbbra is alkalmazza a magasabb hardcoreos üvöltő hangot és a mély hörgést is.
A hangzás megfelelő, a basszus talán egy kicsit háttérbe van szorítva, de nem vészes. Isaac dobtudása nem kiemelkedő, viszont ehhez a zenéhez teljesen elég.
Hallhatunk néha egy-egy rövidebb gitárszólót is, de leginkább a döngölősebb részek viszik a prímet.
Érdekes az összkép, mert bár a zenei tudásuk nem kiemelkedő, mégis dicsérni tudom őket. Hatalmas energia és lelkesedés árad a zenéből és Harrison mélyebb hörgései nagyon jók. A riffek sem mennek el a hallgató füle mellett, nem bonyolult, mégis könnyen megkedveli az ember.
Az eddigi fanoknak bizonyára tetszeni fog a lemez, és biztos vagyok benne, hogy hamarosan sok rajongójuk lesz. Főleg úgy, hogy többek között olyan bandákkal lesz fellépésük, mint az All Shall Perish vagy az Abigail Williams. Nem tudom, Magyarországon mennyire ismerik és kedvelik őket, de mindenkinek bátran ajánlom, aki szereti a hardcore vagy deathcore zenéket.

ENGLISH VERSION:
I’ve been really waiting for the album of this christian metalcore that hails from Corona, since Ferret has just signed with them, and they’ve been given a really good advertisement, on the other hand I loved the samples on their myspace page. So I started to listen to Forfeit Misfortunes with great interest.
The band has released an EP earlier called The Awakening. I haven’t heard all of the songs on it but what I listened to was seductive.
Well, what can be immediately heard is that they have become more melodic and there are fewer death metal elements in the songs, but that not means they became boneless. The energy filled, agressive parts are present, but in a more digestible way. Harrison continues to use the higher hardcore screams and the lower growls too.
The sounding is correct, the bass is maybe in the background, but not it’s not ruinous. Isaac’s drumming is not prominent but for this music it is enough.
Sometimes we can hear short guitar solos, but the ramming parts are more often.
The image of the whole is pretty interesting, because their musical knowledge is not significant, but I can still praise them. Great energy is flowing from the music and Harrison’s lower growls are really good. The riffs are not passing by the listeners ears, not tricky but one can easely get to like it.
Those who loved the band before will surely like this on too, and I’m certain of that they will get a lot of new fans. Particularly because of that they will play with bands like All Shall Perish or Abigail Williams. I don’t know about their Hungarian reputation but I really advise it to those who dig hardcore or deathcore music.
